Disa I. Ahlborg, wife of Per Hilmer Carlson
     Disa Ingegerd Ahlborg, daughter of Johan Ahlborg and Maria Elisabet Östholm, was born on 4 March 1910 at Östanbjörke, Sunne, Värmland, Sverige.1

     Disa, at 18, was found on the "S. S. Gripsholm" passenger list on 20 October 1928, departing Göteborg, Sverige. She arrived at the Port of New York, 30 Oct 1928. Her final destination was Providence, Rhode Island. She was described as 5' 6", fair complexion, brown hair and eyes.2

     Disa and Per emigrated on 28 March 1936, from Göteborg, Sverige, They were both listed, however, Disa was listed with her maiden name.3

     Disa and Per were found on the "S. S. Gripsholm" passenger list on 28 March 1936, departing Göteborg, Sverige. They sailed to the Port of New York, and on to meet with her sister, Ellen Ahlborg, living in Providence, Rhode Island. Disa was "single" with an occupation of housework. Disa was described as 5' 5", fair complexion, brown hair and eyes.4,5

     Disa was naturalized on 15 June 1936, at Rhode Island.6

     Disa married Per Hilmer Carlson, son of Johan Adolf "Surname Unknown" Karlsson and Anna Matilda Persdotter, on 19 September 1936, at West Warick, Rhode Island.7

     Disa died in November 1988, at Cranston, Providence, Rhode Island, at age 78,8 and was buried at All Saints Cemetery, Warwick, Kent, Rhode Island.9

     Disa and Per appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Providence, Providence, Rhode Island, at 53 Algonquin Street, enumerated 8 April 1940. Per was renting at the time, paying $17.00 per month. He was working as a contractor carpenter. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $21.35 in the year 2022. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2022 would have cost $.17 cents in 1940.10
