     William Freeman Schoppe, son of John Shoppe and Elcie Weston, was born on 12 November 1818 at Jonesboro, Washington, Maine.2,3

     William and Margaret Schoppe filed a marriage intention on 30 March 1847 at Beddington, Washington, Maine.4

     William, at age 28, son of John Shoppe and Elcie Weston, married Margaret Schoppe at age 21, daughter of Ephraim Schoppe and Mary Shorey Emerson, on 4 May 1847. They were "First Cousins".5

     William, at age 46, son of John Shoppe and Elcie Weston, married Lois A. Cushman at age 28, daughter of Sullivan Cushman and Clarissa Tribon, on 6 August 1865.6

     William died on 19 September 1899, at Beddington, Washington, Maine, at age 80. His cause of death was listed as consumption; (An old and once common term for wasting away of the body, particularly from pulmonary tuberculosis).7,8 He was buried at Beddington Cemetery, Beddington, Washington, Maine.9

     William and Margaret appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Beddington, Washington, Maine, enumerated 11 July 1860. William was working as a day laborer. His real estate valued at $1500.00 and personal property $300.00. Their children, Harvey S., Winfield S., William B., George H. and Joseph W. were listed as living with them.11

     William and Lois appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Beddington, Washington, Maine, enumerated 10 August 1870. William was a farmer. His real estate valued at $2000.00 and personal property at $700.00. Their children, Everett F. and Margaret Fannie were listed as living with them. His children Harvey S., Winfield S., William B., George H., Joseph W. and Martha A. were also listed as living with them.12
