Sarah Sally Townsend, wife of Jacob Lovejoy
     Sarah Sally Townsend, daughter of Dodivah Townsend and Sarah Hastings, was born circa 22 February 1789 at Sidney, Kennebec, Maine.2

     Sarah Sally Townsend lived
to take his family on an ox cart through the woods to the young settlement of Charleston. One of the stories told of him is that he was in demand at all parties as fiddler and entertainer. A neighbor planning a party, sent a daughter with invitations to all the houses. When asked what was to be provided for the guests, she replied,'There won't be anything very good or nourishing but Jacob Lovejoy will be there.' Evidently, that was sufficient.1


     Sarah, daughter of Dodivah Townsend and Sarah Hastings, married Jacob Lovejoy at age 37, son of Abiel Lovejoy and Mary Brown, on 23 July 1818 at Vassalboro, Kennebec, Maine.1,3

     Sarah Sally Townsend died on 22 February 1879 at Charleston, Penobscot, Maine,4 and was buried at West Charleston Cemetery, Charleston, Penobscot, Maine.5

Census

     She was probably the female age 50 to 60 listed in the household of her husband, Jacob Lovejoy, in the 1840 Federal Census of Charleston, Penobscot, Maine.6

     Sarah and Jacob appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Charleston, Penobscot, Maine, enumerated 12 August 1850. Jacob was listed as a shoemaker. Their sons, Loriston Hale and Abial, wives, Clara Greenlief and Harriet Watson were listed as living with them.7

     Sarah Sally Townsend, and her husband, Jacob appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Charleston, Penobscot, Maine, in the household of their son, Abial and his wife, Harriet Watson Warren, She was listed as a retired housewife.8

     Sarah Sally Townsend, with her husband, Jacob appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Charleston, Penobscot, Maine, in the household of their son, Abial and his wife Harriet.9

     Julia A. Tracy, daughter of Wheeler Tracy and Mary Leland, was born on 4 October 1836 at Winter Harbor, Maine.1,2

     Julia, daughter of Wheeler Tracy and Mary Leland, married Thomas A. Crabtree, son of George Crabtree and Rebecca Jellison, circa 1853.4

     Julia A. Tracy died on 10 April 1907 at West Main Street, Ellsworth, Hancock, Maine, at age 70. Her cause of death was listed as pulmonary oedema. Pulmonary edema is fluid accumulation in the lungs, which collects in air sacs.5
