ORONO Local and Personal Mention of Interest to Residents in This Section

Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Monday amid the apple blossom a very impressive wedding was solemnized in the orchard of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvannus J. Goodrich on the Kelly Road, Orono, Maine, when their only daughter. Muriel Frances was united in a double ring service to Mr. Lawrence Weston Davee of New York city, son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett W. Davee of Orono, Maine. The bridal party was ushered in by the strains of "Lnnhengrin's Wedding March" played by Mr. Harold Pressy of Brewer and they stood beneath an arch of evergreen which was interwoven with white carnations, the Chi Omega flower. On the background of the arch was the Chi Omega seal embellished on a large banner of white kid. A wedding bell of Chi Omega colors — straw and cardinal— tilled with rose petals to which were attached ribbons held by the bridesmaids formed the aisle for the bridal party. As Rev. T Everett Fairchild, pastor of the Methodist Church of Orono took his stand in front of the arch with the groom and best man C Weston Steward of St Jolinsbury, Vermont, cousin of the groom, the bride appeared on the arm of her father preceded by her maid of honor, Miss lome Irving of Watervtlle and her bridesmaids, Miss Rebecca Hall of East Machias, Ester Thompson of Bangor, Miss Arline Bessie of Albion and Miss Frances Willets of Bangor, Miss Louise Messor of Old Town as bridal escort; all Chi Omega sisters of the bride. Pauline Davee, little sister of the groom, with Virginia Weston of Dover-Foxcroft little cousin of the groom were to serve as flower girls but on account of the illness of Pauline, were unable to do this. Miss Rubena Commins of Brewer, another Chi Omega sister, sang "Oh Promise Me" very sweetly accompanied by Mr. Harold Pressy As the organist played "Mendelssohn’s Recessional March” the happy couple led the bridal party away from the arch to be greeted by their admiring guests. Miss Arlene Reisle caught the bridal bouquet as the bride threw it to her bridesmaids. Ice cream in Chi Omega colors with assorted cake were sevred by Miss Evangeline Steward of St Johnsbury, Vermont, cousin of the groom and Mrs. Fred Stevens of Boston, Massachusetts assisted by the bridesmaids. The bride was charming in a gown of white, Truru crepe, with pearl trimmings and wore a necklace of pearls, a gift of the groom. She wore a bridal veil with coronation wreath of orange blossoms and carried a shower bouqeut of white carnations and ribbons. The maid of honor wore jage green and carried white roses. The bridal escort wore olive green and carried pink roses. The bridesmaids were in straw colored crepe de chene and carried cardinal roses. Miss Steward wore an embroidered frock of pink georgette with hat to match and Miss Stevens wore a black frock in white with hat to match. The groom and best man wore the conventional tuxedoes. The bride's mother was in grey crepe and the groom's mother was in taupe canton crepe. The wedding cake was made by Mrs. Olive Haskell, an aunt of the bride. The gifts were many and beautiful. The bride is a graduate of the University of Maine, Class of 1922, and has been a successful teacher in the Orono Public schools. The groom is a gradaute in the same class and now holds a responsible position as a member of the Technical Staff of the Western Electric Company of New York City. The birlde's gift to the maid of honor was a bridal handkerchief and to the bridesmaids bridal wreaths. The groom's gift to the best man and organist were gold cuff links. The bride's gifts to the little flower girls were bracelets. The out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Weston and daughters Virginia and Jane of Dover-Foxcroft.
