George Stanley French, son of John George French and Ellen Parry, was born on 14 July 1863 at Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.^3,2

     George, at age 26, married Minnie (Minerva) Leone Diamond at age 20, daughter of Andrew Jackson Diamond and Mary Sullivan, on 29 August 1889, at Wentworth, Ontario, Canada. There religions George, was Episcopal and Minnie, Methodist. They were married by Mungo Fraser.^4,5

     Phyllis and John appeared on the 1931 Canada Census of Hamilton, Canada, Ontario, enumerated 1931. John was a pokice officer for the city. Phyllis's mother and sister, Minnie (Minerva) Leone and Ella Constance were listed as living with them.⁴

     Robert Reginald French, son of George Stanley French and Minnie (Minerva) Leone Diamond, was born on 25 August 1902 at Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.⁴

     He appeared on the 1911 Canadian Census of Cliff Ave, Barton Township, Ontario, Canada, in the household of his parents, George and Minnie.⁵

     Robert was listed on a boarder crossing for the "Maritime Motion Picture Supply Company", on 2 September 1939.⁶

     Robert married Maude Gladys (Mazie) McElroy, daughter of Archie McElroy and Jennie Jones, on 1 October 1939, at Manhattan, New York.^7,8

     The U.S. officially entered World War II on 8 December 1941 following an attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Just about a year before that, in October 1940, President Roosevelt had signed into law the first peacetime selective service draft in U.S. history, due to rising world conflicts. After the U.S. entered WWII a new selective service act required that all men between ages 18 and 65 register for the draft. Between November 1940 and October 1946, over 10 million American men were registered. The Fourth Registration, often referred to as the "old man's registration", was conducted on 27 April 1942 and registered men who born on or between 28 April 1877 and 16 February 1897 - men who were between 45 and 64 years old - and who were not already in the military. Robert filled out a draft card for World War II in 1942, while living at 35-05 191 Street, Flushing, Queens, New York. He was self-employed.⁴

     Robert was naturalized on 2 July 1942, by Southern District of New York, New York. At the time, he and his daughter, Stephanie were living at 35-05 191 Street, Flushing, Queens, New York.¹

     Robert married Dorothy Gwendolyn Ziegler, daughter of Frank William Ziegler and Mary Frederikke Svendsen.⁹

     Robert died on 27 November 1975, at Huntington, New York, at age 73,¹⁰ and was buried at Northport Rural Cemetery, Northport, Suffolk, New York.¹¹
