Ruth Burrell, wife of Jesse Bate
     Ruth Burrell was also known as Ruth Bate.2
     Ruth Burrell, daughter of Joseph Burrell and Hannah Bicknell, was born on 26 February 1758 at Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts.1

     Ruth, at age 19, daughter of Joseph Burrell and Hannah Bicknell, married Jesse Bates at age 24 on 14 August 1777 at Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts.3

     Ruth died on 9 April 1838 at Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts, at age 80.4 and was buried at Waterman Cemetery, Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts.5

Edna C. Brewster, Wife of Seymour M. Harris
     Sarah Burrell, daughter of Howard E. Burrell and Annie A. Lynn, was born in June 1894 at Eastport, Washington, Maine. According to a copy of 'Record of a Marriage', for Seymour Harris and Edna, she was adopted by Charles and Eva Brewster.2,5,6 On after 1900 her name was legally changed to Edna Cora Brewster.7

     Sarah, at age 22, daughter of Howard E. Burrell and Annie A. Lynn, married Seymour Mariner Harris at age 21, son of Alfred Harris and Rebecca MacDonald, on 27 February 1917 at Eastport, Washington, Maine, Unknown GEDCOM info: 27 FEB 1917 by Joseph H. Lambert, Clergyman.8,9,5

     Sarah died on 19 September 1962 at age 68.8 and was buried at Dennysville Cemetery, Dennysville, Washington, Maine.10

     Sarah Burrell appeared on the 1900 Federal Census in Eastport, Washington, Maine in the household of her adopted parents, Charles and Eva.11

     Sarah appeared on the 1900 Federal Census in Calais, Washington, Maine in the household of her parents, Howard and Annie.12

     Sarah appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Eastport, Washington, Maine, at Clark Street, enumerated 21 April 1910. As listed, Edna, age 15, was living with her adopted family, C. H. and Eva Brewster.13

     Sarah and Seymour appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Eastport, Washington, Maine, at Clark Street, enumerated 3 January 1920. Seymour was listed as a laborer in a sardine factory. Their children, Burrill B. were listed as living with them.14

     Sarah appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Eastport, Washington, Maine, enumerated 12 April 1930. She was working as a factory laborer.15

     Sarah appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Plantation # 14, Washington, Maine, enumerated 27 June 1940. She was living with Willard S. Neddeau, age 87. For some reason, in error, she was listed as a widow. Her daughter, Flossie M. was listed as living with them. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $16.26 in the year 2012. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2012 would have cost $.21 cents in 1940.16

Obituary

EDNA B HARRIS

PLANTATION 14 — Mrs. Edna B. Harris, 69, died Wednesday in a Machias nursing home following a long illness. She was born at Eastport April 12, 1893 daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brewster. Mrs. Harris had been a resident of Plantation 14 for several years. She is survived by two sons, Vance R. Harris of Plantation 14, and Burrill Harris of Whiting; one daughter, Miss Flossie M. Harris of Plantation 14; one brother, Chester Quinn of Gouldsboro; one sister Mrs. Ethel Armstrong of Cambridge, Mass; two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 pm at the Gardner Funeral Home, Machias with the Rev. William R. Riddiough officiating. Interment will be in the Dennysville Cemetery.17
