Kathy Edgerly Marries In Methodist Ceremony

DOVER-FOXCROFT Miss Kathy Marie Edgerly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Edgerly was married to Russell H. Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Thomas of Guilford, July 25 at the Methodist Church. The Rev. Gordon Hemphill officiated, Organist was Philip Clark. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown trimmed with delicate lace with A-line skirt and lace yoke. Her veil was trimmed with lace petals and crystals and she carried white daisies and red roses. Matron of honor was Judith Edgerly of Dover-Foxcroft. Bridesmaids were Vicki Lynne Edgerly of Dover-Foxcroft and Rose Marie Thomas of Guilford. They wore turquoise gowns and each carried a single red rose. They wore miniature red roses in their hair. Best man was Charles Edgerly of Dover-Foxcroft. Ushers were Peter Applebee and David Smiley, both of Guilford. A reception was held at the Guilford Center Grange. Assisting were Mrs. Carol Thomas, Miss Susan Hesketh, Miss Gale Pratt, Mrs. Merna Dunham, Mrs. Cathy Baird, Miss Elinor Robinson, Mrs. Beth Hesketh and Mrs. Thelma Pratt. The couple left on a trip to New Hampshire, Vermont, New York and Canada. After Aug. 8, they will reside on Hudson Avenue, Guilford. The bride graduated from Foxcroft Academy. She is employed at Pride Gold Tee Manufacturing. Mr. Thomas, a graduate of Piscataquis Community High School, is the lumber and trucking business with his father.1

     Lula, at age 18, daughter of David J. Edgerly and Ellen M. Brawn, married Percy L. Pratt, son of Leonard W. Pratt and Sarah Elizabeth Lyford, on 8 September 1903 at Dover, Piscataquis, Maine, They were married by H. W. Norton.4

     Lula died at age 89, on 19 May 1974, at Bangor, Penobscot, Maine,3,5 and was buried at Dover Cemetery, Dover Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine.3

     Lula and Percy appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Dover Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated 29 April 1930. Percy was a farmer, and owned his home. They had a radio set. They also had a boarder, Edith M. Burrill, housemaid..8

     Lula and Percy appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Dover Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine, at 165 Bryant Road, enumerated 6 May 1940. Percy owned his home, valued at $2500.00. He completed one year high school and Lulu completed three years. Percy worked as a farmer. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $16.26 in the year 2012. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2012 would have cost $.21 cents in 1940.9

MRS. PERCY PRATT

- DOVER - FOXCROFT -Mrs. Lula L. Pratt, 89, widow of Percy L. Pratt, died May 19 at a Bangor nursing home where she had been a patient for over a year. She was born Feb. 12, 1885 in Dover Foxcroft, the daughter of David J. and Ellen Brawn Edgerly. She and her husband were life long residents of Dover-Foxcroft, engaging in farming and poultry raising at their farm home on Steadman Hill until his retirement, when they moved to Pleasant Street. Mrs. Pratt was a mejnber of the United Baptist Church. She is survived by one niece, Mrs. A. C. (Kathryn) Dyer of Hollis, N. H; two nephews, Harry H. Edgerly of Atkinson and Carroll D. Edgerly of Kingfield. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Lary Funeral Home. Pastor Dana Miller of the United Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot in the Dover Cemetery. Friends may call at the Lary Funeral Home in Dover Tuesday from 3 to 5, 7 to 9.5
