     James R. Pinkham died on 15 April 1885 at age 56.1,7 and was buried at Brookside Cemetery, Dedham, Hancock, Maine.8

Engagement Of Marjorie Pinkham Announced At Holden Tea Sunday

The engagement of Miss Marjorie Dawn Pinkham of East Holden to Barton Morrill Blum of Rahway, N J was announced Sunday afternoon by Miss Pinkham's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond S. Pinkham at a tea held at the Pinkham home in East Holden. Mr. Blum is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Blum of Rahway, N.J. Miss Pinkham was graduated from Brewer High School. She attended the University of Maine She is now a member of the faculty of the Holden Consolidated Elementary school. Mr. Blum was graduated from Rahway High School, from Rutgers University and from Yale University. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers and a Master of Forestry degree rom Yale. He is a research forester in the service of the United States Government and is presently assigned tb Upper Darby PA. He is a veteran of service as first lieutenant in the United States Air Force. The wedding is planned for the fall. At the tea, Mrs. Charles Ten Broeck of Holden and Mrs Victor Deal of Bangor poured at an ttractively appointed tea table which was centered with an arrangement of red and white carnations in a silver bowl flanked by white tapers. The Valentine motif was used in decorations and refreshments. Assisting in serving were Mrs. Carroll Pinkham, Mrs. Rodney Pinkham, Miss Ethel Pinkham and Mrs. Paul Groferer. Among those attending the affair were Mrs. Walter Gray, Mrs. Grant Dearborn, Mrs. Ralph Day, Mrs. Ralph Day, Jr., Mrs. Robert Lunt, Mrs. Edward Law, Mrs, John McTighe, Mrs. Douglas Thompson Mrs Robert Paschal Miss Jacqueline Coney Miss Phyllis Cassidy Mrs Galen Higgins, Mrs. Ethel Sadler, and Mrs. Roger Blackman.2


     Marjorie, at age 24, daughter of Raymond S. Pinkham and Alice Summerson, married Barton Morrill Blum at age 26 in August 1958.3

     Marjorie died on 8 October 2010, at age 77.1 and was buried at Hart's Corner Cemetery, Holden, Penobscot, Maine.4

MARJORIE (PINKHAM) BLUM

HOLDEN and BREWER - Marjorie (Pinkham) Blum, 77, wife of the late Dr. Barton M. Blum, died Oct. 8, 2010, after a 20-year battle with Parkinson's disease. She was born Sept. 4, 1933, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Raymond and Alice (Summerson) Pinkham. Marjorie was raised in Holden and graduated from Brewer High School in 1951. She attended the University of Maine for one year and then taught school in Holden before her marriage to Bart in 1958. They settled in Holden in 1972, where they raised their family. She continued her education and graduated from the University of Maine in 1983 with a degree in education. Marge worked as a real estate agent for JF Singleton and worked at G.M. Pollock jewelers during the Christmas season. She was an avid gardener and she enjoyed collecting antiques, especially dolls. Marge was a local historian and genealogist having done much research locating all sides of the family and traveling to Europe to visit newly discovered relatives. She was the president of Holden Bicentennial Committee and was instrumental in restoring the school house museum now located at the University of Maine. She was a longtime member of Holden Congregational Church, was a true Yankee, and enjoyed summers in Gouldsboro and Southwest Harbor. Surviving are two daughters, Kim Adams and her husband, Phil, of Bangor and their three children, Ashley, Philip and Alex; and Pam Allen and her husband, Mike, of Orrington and their five children, Dana, Danny, Luke, Jennifer and Wyatt; one son, Jeff Blum of Gouldsboro; a sister, Ethel Haselton and her husband, Woody, of Ogunquit; one brother, Rod Pinkham and his wife, Joyce, of Holden; sisters-in-law, Jackie Pinkham of Holden and Connie Brown and her husband, Warren, of Newtown, Pa; several nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by a special friend, Cindy Triplett of Holden. She was predeceased by a brother, Carroll Pinkham; and two granddaughters, April and Amanda. Marjorie's family gratefully thanks her many caregivers during the last 12 years, especially her granddaughter, Alexandra, New Hope Hospice and Dr. Adam Lauer and staff. A service honoring Marjorie's life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Holden Congregational Church, Church Road, Holden, with the Rev. Dana Douglass, pastor, presiding. Family and friends may visit 12:30 p.m. until the service begins Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Harts Corner Cemetery, Holden. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Holden Congregational Church, Steeple Fund, P.O. Box 3451, Brewer, ME 04412.6
