PHILIP R SMITH

DENNYSVILLE - Philip R. Smith, 79, died at a Machias hospital Jan. 2, 1994, after a short illness. He was born March 13, 1914, in Marion, the son of Willis and Elsie Smith. Philip worked for the State Highway Department for 44 years. He was one of the older members who helped form the Dennys River Fire Department. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Allison (Lund) Smith; two brothers, Rex Smith of Pembroke and Carl Smith of Calais. Surviving are one son, Philip R. Smith, Jr. and his wife Helen and one daughter, Violet Stevens and husband George, all of Dennysville; one sister, Esther Lund of Lisbon; one brother, Leonard Smith of 'Dennysville; six grandchildren, Peter Smith, Michael Stevens, Paul Smith, Mary Ellen Jones, Terry Stevens and Dennis Stevens; 10 great-grandchildren, Paul Smith Jr., Bradley Smith, Evan and Aaron Smith, Gerry and Ryan Bassett, Derek Stevens, Jullian and Bryan Stevens, and Amy Allison Stevens. Friends may call 1-2 pm, Monday Jan. 3, at Flagg Funeral Home where funeral services will be held 2 pm Monday with the Rev Ronald Windhorst officiating. Interment will be in Dennysville Cemetery.2
