     Abagail P. Staples, daughter of Samuel D. Staples and Mary C. Whittier, was born on 12 June 1832 at Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine.1,3

     Abagail and Edward Davis filed a marriage intention on 22 April 1852 at Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine.4,5,6

     Abagail, at age 19, daughter of Samuel D. Staples and Mary C. Whittier, married Edward Davis at age 23, son of Luther Davis and Jane I. Smith, on 23 April 1852 at Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine, (The date of marriage varies on the month, based on reference.)5,6,7,8

     Abagail P. Staples purchased for five hundred dollars. A certain parcel of real estate situated in said Wellington, it being the North part of Lot number fifteen (15) and containing sixty acres more or less - - the same formerly occupied by Joseph Cook. February 7, 1855. on 21 October 1854 at Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine.9

     Abagail P. Staples died on 14 April 1915 at Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine, at age 82.10 and was buried at Chadbourne Cemetery, Harmony, Somerset, Maine.11

     Abagail and Edward appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated August 1870. He was listed as a farmer. His real estate valued at $1200.00 and his personal property at $400.00. Their children, Alfonso Seth and Ella were listed as living with them.14

     Abagail and Edward appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated 8 June 1880. Edward listed his work as a farmer. Additionally, they had Emma C. Staples, age 14, and John Staples, age 10, living with them. Their son, Alfonso Seth was listed as living with them.15

     Abagail and Edward appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated, 11 June 1900. Edward listed his work as a farm laborer. Their son, Alfonso Seth was listed as living with them.16

     Abagail P. Staples appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine in the household of her son, Alfonso and his wife, Jennie L. Smith.17

WOMAN DIES IN HARMONY FIRE
Mrs. Abbie Davis, Age 83, Upsets Lamp Wile Crossing Room; Was Left Alone.

HARMONY, April 15.--Mrs. Abbie Davis, aged 83 years, was burned to death late Wednesday night. She had been left alone for a few minutes and evidently attempted to cross the room alone, upsetting a lamp in her attempt. She was discovered by members of a family named Tibbetts, who also occupied the house. She lived with her son, Alphonso Davis, who was in Dexter wrhen the fire occurred. The house was saved.

DEDHAM

Friends here of Mrs. Davis, an aged lady, mother of Alplionso Davis of Harmony, were shocked to hear of her being burned to death, caused by the upsetting of a lamp in her room. Mrs. Davis had visited here several times in the past three years, and was much liked by all who had her acquaintance and her tragic death is greatly deplored. Mrs. Clifford Burrill was called to Harmony Thursday by the death of her grandmother, Mrs. Davis.18,19
