     Salome, at age 19, daughter of James A. Smith and Mary E. Sprague, married William Francis Durant at age 27 in September 1883 at Lubec, Washington, Maine.4

     Salome died on 4 November 1949 at Parrsboro, Cumberland, Nova Scotia, Canada, at age 85. Salmone's cause of death was listed as cerebral hemorrhage due to hypertension5 and was buried at Saint George's Anglican Cemetery, Parrsboro, Cumberland, Nova Scotia, Canada.6

     Salome Arlett Smith was buried at Court Street Cemetery, Machias, Washington, Maine. Her name is inscribed on her parents headstone.7

     Sanford B. Smith, son of John Smith and Elizabeth Blackwood, was born circa 1849 at Maine.2

     Sanford, of Pembroke and Jennie L. Smith, of Plantation #14 filed a marriage intention on 12 March 1876, at Pembroke, Washington, Maine.3

     Sanford B. Smith purchased from Elizabeth C. Lincoln two hundred and seventy -five dollars twenty-nine acres: bounded as follows viz: begining at the South East corner of the land by Theodore Lincoln Jr. on the Pemaquan Bay on 19 June 1876 at Pembroke, Washington, Maine.4

     Sanford, son of John Smith and Elizabeth Blackwood, married Jennie L. Smith at age 17, daughter of Samuel T. Smith and Elizabeth A. Reed, on 31 March 1877 at Pembroke, Washington, Maine, by Rev. James Hiram.5,6,7,8,9

     Sanford B. Smith purchased for six hundred dollars to Thomas Robbinson of Edmunds land in said Pembroke containing twenty-nine acres more or less with a new dwelling house. Bounded Northerly by land of Henry W. Bryant which he occupies as his homestead Farm, Easterly by Pemaquan Bay, Southerly by land of Lorenzo S. Smith and Westerly by the Blackwood fifty acres, lot being the same premisis conveyed to me by Elizabeth C. Lincoln by her deed of Warranty dated June 19 1876 and recorded in the Registry of Deeds of said county book 147 page 172. The property was free of incumbrances except a mortgage to Slomon Blackwood now assigned to Ira F. Mitchell on 21 October 1879.10

     Sanford B. Smith in consideration of one hundred fifty-four dollars, sold twelve acres being the southeastern corner of my present homestead deeded me by _______ of Sanford Smith by Andrew W. Cushing by his deed of ________ dated Feb 24 1880. ... the part therefore hereby conveyed is boundaries as follows to _____ commencing with North Western side of the County Road leaving from Eastport to Dennysville at the Southeast corner of said homestead and ninty-six (96) rods, thence Westerly parallel to said road twenty (20) rods, thence Southerly parallel to the Eastern line of said homestead ninty-six (96) rods to said road and thence Easterly by said road twenty (20) rods, to the place of beginning Sarah A. Brown of Pembroke to Jennie L. Smith on 31 October 1881. The deed was witnessed by an unknown person and proved by Sanford B Smith and Jennie L. Smith at E. K. Smart.11

     Sanford died on 4 January 1884 Sanford drowned while sailing near Buenos Aires.12

     His estate was probated on 19 September 1884 at Pembroke, Washington, Maine; A judge appointed Sewall Blackwood, William A. Blackwood and Henry A. Dudley of Pembroke to accomplish an inventory.
At the time of death, Sanford had a homestead lot with 30 acres and some buildings therein valued at $440.00.
His goods and chattels included: 1 wagon, $40.00; 1 sleigh, $3.00; 2 sleds, $10.00; 3 tons hay, $40.00; 1 cow, $12.00; 1 calf; $1.00; 2 sheep, $4.00; 8 chairs, $3.00; 2 beds and bedding; 1 table and knives, forks and dishes. Total $133.00.12,13

     Sanford appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Marshfield, Washington, Maine, in the household of his parents, John and Elizabeth.14

     Sanford B. Smith appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Pembroke, Washington, Maine, in the household of Capt. Ira F. Mitchell and Corrilla Nickerson Blackwood, his aunt, along with his brother, James and his mother, Elizabeth (Blackwood) Smith. It is possible, the family needed a place to live, therefore Ira took them in since Corrilla and Elizabeth were sisters.15

     Sanford and Jennie appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Pembroke, Washington, Maine, enumerated 11 June 1880. Sanford was listed as a sailor. Their daughter, Marcia C. was listed as living with them.16
