     Alfonso Seth Davis was also known as Seth A Davis.6
     Alfonso Seth Davis, son of Edward Davis and Abagail P. Staples, was born on 28 February 1854 at Maine.5,2,7,8

     Alfonso, son of Edward Davis and Abagail P. Staples, married Jennie L. Smith, daughter of Samuel T. Smith and Elizabeth A. Reed, circa 1888 The story of getting together has to be most wonderful. To think, the best of travel during the 1880's would have been much to be desired. Jennie in Pembroke, Dennysville, Marion area and Alfonso living in Wellington. The distance between being, at least 170 miles. Of course, train service was not available at this time.9

     Alfonso and Jennie were in this photograph, with Marion Elizabeth Davis, Horace S. Smith and Marcia C. Smith, which was taken circa 1910 This photograph was not dated, however, it is assumed to have been taken about 1910.10

     Alfonso was according to the 1912 Wellington Town report, paid a sum of fifteen dollars for fighting a fire.11

     DATELINE 14 April 1912: Alfonso Seth Davis was of age to hear of

the event of the RMS Titanic was a British registered four funnelled ocean liner built for the transatlantic passenger and mail service between Southampton and New York.
Constructed at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Ireland Titanic was, on her maiden voyage, the largest vessel afloat.
On April 10th 1912 the Titanic sailed from Southampton with 2,200 passengers and crew. The RMS Titanic's original wireless transmissions, began at 11:55 PM Newfoundland Standard Time [1 1/2 hrs. later than EST, 3 1/2 hrs earlier than Greenwich]. Prior to that time, 8 iceberg warnings were given. Mr. Frederick Fleet was the deck crew member as "Lookout". Shortly after he sighted an iceberg the Titanic collided and started to sink sank. Three hours later, 1500 people died and 700 survived.


     Alfonso left a Will on 15 April 1913 Alfonso's 'Last Will and Testament' was stated as follows:

'That I, Alfonso Davis of Wellington in the county of Piscataquis and the State of Maine....
FIRST: I give bequeath and devise, all of my estate real, personal and mixed wherever located and however and wherever acquired to my daughter, Marion E. Burrill, to have and to hold to her and her heirs and assigns forever.
SECOND: I name my said daughter, Marion E. Burrill sole executrix of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made and I direct that no bond shall be required of her.
An inventory of Alfonso's holdings included $400.00 in real estate, $300.00 in goods and chattels and $6424.68 in rights and credits, for a total of $7124.68.12


     Alfonso died on 4 June 1923, at Dover Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine, at age 69,13,14 and was buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor, Penobscot, Maine.15,16

     Alfonso appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine, in the household of his parents, Edward and Abagail.18

     Alfonso Seth Davis appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine in the household of his parents, Edward and Abagail.19

     Alfonso Seth Davis, with his wife, Jennie and daughter, Marion and step-son, Horace appeared on the 1900 Federal Census in Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine in the household of his parents, Edward and Abagail. He was working as a farmer.20

     Alfonso and Jennie appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated 21 April 1910. Alfonso was working as a farmer on a general farm. It appears, George Fenderson, was a hired hand Their children, Marion Elizabeth were listed as living with them.21

     Alfonso appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated 17 January 1920. Alfonso was listed as a boarder at Clarence Hanson farm..22

DEDHAM

The sad news was received here Monday of the death of Alfonso Davis, formerly of Harmony, which occurred Monday forenoon, June 4. 1923, at the Home Memorial hospital in Dover. lie died after about one weeks Illness. His age was 69 years, 3 months and 4 days. He was born in Wellington, Feb. 28, 1854. During early life he went west and was in the lumbering business in Minneapolis, Minn. for some years. Later he returned east and married Mrs. Jennie Smith of Pembroke and settled in Harmony where he was a prosperous farmer. To them one child was born, Marlon Elizabeth, now the wife of Clifford L. Burrill of Dedham. A few years ago he removed to Dexter and engaged in the automobile business until stricken with his fatal Illness. He was a highly respected citizen in his home town, a devoted husband and father, and well and favorably known here, where he often visited his daughter, who was privileged to be with him in his last days, which was a great source of comfort to him. His wife died In 1912. To the daughter, the only remaining one of the family, much sympathy is extended, she having been called to part with her mother, a half-sister and half-brother all in the same year. Two grandchildren survive him. Dean and June Burrill of whom he was very fond. The remains were brought to Bangor, Tuesday, accompanied by relatives and carried to Mt. Hope, where services were held in the chapel at 2 p. m. Rev. , B. C. Gleason of the Dedham Congregational church officiated with comforting words find prayer. The interment was made in the family lot at Mt. Hope. Mrs. Ella Dore and daughter, Mrs, Ida Chadbourne of Harmony accompanied her niece, Mrs. Clifford Burrill home and will remain for a few days.23

CHARLES H DAVIS

PLYMOUTH July 13— Charles H. Davis, 69, died at hls home in Plymouth late this afternoon. A retired railway mail clerk, he was born in Harmony, June 23, 1871, the son of Moody and Hannah Staples Davis. He is survived by hls wife, Lettie Moody Davis; two sons Lyle M. and Clarence L; four daughters, Alta, Helen and Leola Davis of Plymouth, and Mrs. Victoria Small of Waterville. The funeral will be Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock DST at the home.2
