MALCOLM L. DOORE

ATKINSON - Malcolm Leo Doore, 69, hu$band of Carolyn (Knowlton) Doore, died Jan. 10, 2001, in Dover-Foxcroft, after a tong battle with cancer. Malcolm was bom Oct. 26, 1931, in Atkinson, the sixth child of John W. Sr. and Elizabeth (Blake) Doore. Malcolm, lived his entire life in Atkinson, where he worked as a teenager with his father on their family farm, and established his own dairy business in 1957. Malcolm married Carolyn Knowlton in 1953 and together they worked building up their dairy farm. After losing the buildings in 1983 to a devastating fire; they rebuilt the farm and he worked 13 more years until his retirement. Malcolm lived a fulfilling life, working tirelessly on his farm, enjoying the outdoors and the demanding hours it took to make it a success. In 1986, Malcolm and Carolyn were chosen as Cooperators of the Year by the Department of Agriculture for his work in strip cropping. After his retirement from dairy farming, he enjoyed snowmobiling and taking his German Shepherd dog, Digger, for rides in the truck. Malcolm was predeceased by his parents and four of his siblings: Lloyd Doore, Evelyn Jones, John W. Doore Jr. and Shirley Green. Malcolm is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two dqughters and their husbands, Katherine and Mark Kinney and Loretta and Lewis Nuite, all of Atkinson; four - grandchildren, Megan and her husband, Daniel Bara of Talmage, Pa., Mamelle and her husband, Morgan Grumbach of Saco, Larae Nuite and Caleb Nuite of Atkinson. He is also survived by a sister, Frances (Doore) Royal of Brewer; many special nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1 2, 2001 , at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, where funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13. Burial will be in the ' family lot in -Sweet Cemetery, Atkinson. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to either the MS Society, P.O. Box 8730, Portland, 04104, or the Piscataquis Valley Fair Association Scholarship Fund, care of Elaine Saunders, 1133 River Road, Sebec, 04481 .
