     Edith Maralda Littlefield, daughter of Sewall A. Littlefield and Helen E. Loveland, was born on 26 August 1904 at Hampden, Penobscot, Maine.2

     Edith, at age 15, daughter of Sewall A. Littlefield and Helen E. Loveland, married Charles Ervin Emerson at age 28, son of John D. Emerson and Nellie Richardson, on 18 October 1919 at Guilford, Piscataquis, Maine.1,3

     Edith died on 13 January 1958, at Hampden, Penobscot, Maine, at age 53,4 and was buried at Gray Cemetery, Dover Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine.5

     Edith appeared on the 1910 Federal Census in Parkman, Piscataquis, Maine in the household of her parents, Sewall and Helen.6

     Edith and Charles appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Guilford, Piscataquis, Maine, at South Main Street, enumerated 13 January 1920. Charles was a laborer working in the woods..7

     Edith and Charles appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Sangerville, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated 18 April 1930. Charlie was renting a place on High Street at this time. He worked as a laborer and Edith worked as a boxer in the tooth pick mill Their children, Arthur E., Gladys H., Eleanor N. and John E. were listed as living with them.8

     Edith and Charles appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Sangerville, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated 23 April 1940. Charles own his home, valued at $1250.00. He was working as a laborer in the hardwood industry. His prior year earning was listed at $736.00 and worked 46 weeks. Their children, Arthur E., Gladys H., Eleanor N. and John E., along with a son-in-law, Charles Thomas were listed as living with them. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $16.26 in the year 2012. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2012 would have cost $.21 cents in 1940.9

MRS. EDITH M. EMERSON

DOVER-FOXCROFT, Jan 13- Mrs. Edith M. Emerson, 53, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Nora Mann, in Bangor today. She was born in Hampden, August 26 1904, daughter of Sewell and Helen Leavitt Littlefield. She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary at Guilford. Surviving are her husband, Charles E. of Dover-Foxcroft; two sons, Arthur E., of Brewer and John E., of Riverside, Calif., two daughters, Mrs. Gladys H. Thomas and Mrs. Nora E. Turner, both of Dover-Foxcroft; two sisters, Mrs. Nora L. Mann of Bangor and Mrs. Madeline Barclay of Bucksport, and 16 grandchildren and several cousins. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Lary Funeral Home on Summer street with the Rev. Clifton J. Wood of the Methodist church officiating. The remains will be entombed pending burial in the spring. Friends may call at the Lary funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 o'clock in the afternoon and 7 to 9 o'clock at night.10
