He left home in Albion at about age 19 and went to study for the ministry with Elijah Parish of Byfield, MA. He was a 'circuit minister,' traveling to towns such as Canaan, Freedom, Unity, Burnham and other towns in the 25 Mile Pond area, Palmyra, Pittsfield, Vassalboro and others doing missionary work. He is listed in the Colby College Alumni Record as having been an honorary graduate in 1825.
He died August 11, 1833 and is buried in the Lovejoy Cemetery overlooking Lovejoy Pond, with his mother and father. An alternate date of death is 11 Oct. 1833, per 'The Lovejoy Genealogy, 1460-1930,' Clarence Earle Lovejoy, 1930 and 'Albion on the Narrow Gauge,' Ruth Crosby Wiggin, 1964

     Rev. Daniel Lovejoy, son of Rev. Francis Lovejoy and Mary Bancroft, was born on 3 March 1776 at Amherst, Hillsborough, New Hampshire.2,3

     Daniel, at age 25, son of Rev. Francis Lovejoy and Mary Bancroft, married Elizabeth Gordon Pattee at age 29 on 30 September 1801 at Unity, Maine.4

     Rev. Daniel Lovejoy died on 11 August 1833 at age 57.5,6 and was buried at Lovejoy Cemetery, Albion, Kennebec, Maine.7
