Ella F. Lovejoy lived circa 1890 at Dedham, Hancock, Maine, This is a photo of their home. It was located on the Upper Dedham Road. At about 1933 a tragic fire took it away. As the 'compiler', I'm not too sure when they first started living in this home.10

On 22 March 1895,Ella and Hadley were celebrating their fifteen year of marriage as reported by the Daily Kennebec Journal
About 70 friends and relatives assembled at their home and passed the evening pleasantly with social conversation, singing, instrumental music and games. A collation of cake, coffee and fruit was served. Obituary

An extract from the Bangor Daily News dtd Thursday June 3, 1937
The Passing of Ella L. Burrill
Long and Useful Life of Unselfish Devotion Ended at 83
The many friends of Mrs. Ella Lovejoy Burrill, 83, widow of Hadley P. Burrill are saddened to learn of her death which occurred Wednesday morning in Bangor after a long period of failing health.
She was born in Kenduskeag, the daughter of Asa G. and Mary Hackett Lovejoy. Her early years were in that locality and there she received her first schooling. Later she attended and was graduated from Waterville Classical Institute, after which she taught school for several years with marked success, and, grieved with them at times of disappointments.
While teaching school in Dedham and on March 22, 1880, was married to Hadley P. Burrill also a teacher and later a dealer in general merchandise and a well-known lumberman, a leader in church and Sunday school work and foremost in everything pertaining to public welfare. They made their home in Dedham until his death 22 years ago. After which she continued to live for several years in the old home and later spent her winters with her daughter, Mrs. Hugh Penney, and summers in Dedham until the home burned four years ago.
She was a charter member of New Century Grange, Dedham; of Dedham Ladies’ Aid; Elliot Union Church Circle of King’s Daughters, Lowell, Mass., and a member of the Dedham Congregational Church, from its organization she served faithfully as a church clerk and many other capacities. For many years she was a teacher in the Sunday School which she helped organized, not giving up the work as long as her health permitted her to carry it on. She gave proof of her Christian character in many ways, in her devotion as a wife and mother, in her fidelity to church work, her hospitality in her home and her kindness as a neighbor. Of a most willing and self-sacrificing nature she gave freely of her time and strength until prevented by her failing health, and it was with great reluctance she gave up the manifold cares and duties of a long and useful life. Many crosses were hers to bear – the loss of her home, three of her children and of her husband all of which she bore with Christian fortitude and her whole life was a shining example of patience, cheerful resignation and faith in God.

“Pale Withered hands, that more than fourscore years She wrought for others; smoothed the hurt of tears, Rocked children’s cradles, eased the fever’s smart, Now starless folded like wan rose leaves pressed Above the snow and silence of her breast; Inmate they tell of labors done, And well-earned rest that came at set of sun.”

Mother of six sons and one daughter; three sons, Harold S., Leslie F., Clifford L., and Marcia Burrill Penney survive her. She also leaves one brother Horace Lovejoy of Old Town; one sister, Mrs. Hard Brown of Milton, Mass; 13 grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Prayers for the family will be at the home of her son, Harold S. Burrill, Friday afternoon at one o’clock DST and the funeral service will be from the Dedham Congregational church at 2:30 DST.

“Rest from thy labor, rest, Soul of the just sent free! Blest be thy memory and blest Thy bright example be.24'
