VAN DYKE - PLACE Little Neck, L. I., December 17 - The marriage of W. [M] Van Dyke, son of I. M. Van Dyke and Miss Emma Place, daughter of William H. Place, took place last evening, at the Lawrence homestead. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. N. F. Jeffry. Miss Matilda Weeks, cousin of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, and Albert Van Dyke was best man. Mrs. Van Dyke received many valuable presents. After the ceremony a supper was served by Mrs. William H. Place.
Van Dyke, son of I. M. Van Dyke and Miss Emma Place, daughter of William H. Place, took place last evening, at the Lawrence homestead. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. N. F. Jeffry.      Emma J. Place, her husband, Martin Van Dyke and daughter, Mildred appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Queens, Queens, New York in the household of her father, William.6

     Emma J. Place, with her husband, Nartin and daughter appeared on the 1915 New York Census of Bayside, Queens, New York in the household of her in-laws, Isaac and Susan.7

     Emma and Martin appeared on the 1925 New York Census of Manhassett, Nassau, New York, at Hillcrest Ave, enumerated 1 June 1925. Martin was working as a farmer. Their children, Mildred were listed as living with them.8

     Emma and Martin appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Manhassett, Nassau, New York, at Hillcrest Ave, enumerated 11 April 1930. Martin owned his home, valued at $15000.00. They also had a radio set in the home. Martin was working as a gardener for a private estate Their children, Mildred were listed as living with them. Their grandchildren, Harold were listed as living in the household.9

     Emma and Martin appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Manhassett, Nassau, New York, at Hillcrest Avenue, enumerated April 1940. Martin owned his home, valued at $6900.00. He was working as a gardener for a private estate. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $21.35 in the year 2022. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2022 would have cost $.17 cents in 1940.10

Friends may call at The Fairchild Chapel, 3100 Northern Bivd., Manhasset. Service at Christ Episcopal Church Northern Blvd., at Plandome Rd., Manhasset on Saturday at 2:30 PM.4
