     Hannah Jane Staples, daughter of Samuel D. Staples and Mary C. Whittier, was born in December 1835 at Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine.1,2

     Hannah and Moody Davis filed a marriage intention on 3 July 1854 at Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine.3

     Hannah, at age 18, daughter of Samuel D. Staples and Mary C. Whittier, married Moody Davis at age 24, son of Luther Davis and Jane I. Smith, on 4 July 1854 at Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine, They were married by Samuel D. Staples, Justice of the Peace.4,5,6,7

     Hannah died on 5 August 1913 at Plymouth, Somerset, Maine, at age 77. Hannah's cause of death was listed as cerebral apoplexy8,2 and was buried at North Road Cemetery, Harmony, Somerset, Maine.8

     Hannah and Moody appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Harmony, Somerset, Maine, enumerated 20 June 1870. Moody was a farmer. His real estate valued at $1600.00 and personal property $1170.00 Their children, Viola, Nora, Mary E., Frances, Lillian Elizabeth, Elzada and Lona G. were listed as living with them.11

     Hannah appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Harmony, Somerset, Maine, enumerated 13 June 1900. On the census, Hannah was listed as a farmer. It appears she was living by herself.13

     Hannah Jane Staples appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine in the household of her nephew, Alfonso and his wife, Jennie L. Smith.14

     Mary died on 24 March 1901 at age 61.4 and was buried at Ward Cemetery, Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine.4

     Samuel D. Staples was born on 21 September 1809 at Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine.1,2

     Samuel, at age 20, married Mary C. Whittier on 28 March 1830 at Brighton, Somerset, Maine.3,4

     Samuel D. Staples five hundred dollars. A certain parcel of real estate situated in said Wellington, it being the North part of Lot number fifteen (15) and containing sixty acres more or less - - the same formerly occupied by Joseph Cook. February 7, 1855. in consideration of, bought at Wellington, Piscataquis, Maine, on 21 October 1854. The deed was witnessed by James Buzzell and proved by E. B. Averill.5

     Samuel died at age 86, on 19 November 1895, at Penobscot, Maine,6 and was buried at South Branch Cemetery, Levant, Penobscot, Maine.6
