     Pansy M. Tompkins was born on 18 July 1913 at Blaine, Virginia.2

     Pansy, at age 23, married Bernard R. Black at age 30, son of Leonard Roscoe Black and Laura F. Lyman, on 26 November 1936 at Maine.1

     Pansy died at age 88, on 1 February 2002, at Bangor, Penobscot, Maine.2

     Pansy and Bernard appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Dedham, Hancock, Maine, enumerated 11 May 1940. Bernard was working in the building trade as a carpenter. He owned his home valued at $600.00. Their son, David R. and Pansy's son, Francis le Roy were listed as living with them. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $16.26 in the year 2012. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2012 would have cost $.21 cents in 1940.3

PANSY T. BLACK

DEDHAM - Pansy T. Black, 88, died Feb. 1, 2002, at a 'Bangor hospital. She was bom in Blaine, July 18, 1913, the daughter of' Richard Tompkins and Adelaide (Hamond) Tompkins. Surviving are three sons, Leonard and his wife, Barbara Black, David and his wife, Carol Black, all of Dedham, Paul and his wife, Louann Black of Anthony, Fla; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter and son-in-law, Marion "Teddy" and Richard Hancock; and a son, Francis leRoy Tompkins. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Monday, at Brookings-Smilh, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where funeral services will be held 10 a m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Raymond Blaisdell officiating. Spring interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Reception Rooms, 55 South Main St., Brewer, after the service.4
