Obituary

Gordon L. Pratt

WINN - Gordon Pratt, 79, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on January 3, 2022. He was born June 6, 1942, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Lloyd Pratt and Fern (Stevens) Pratt. He was a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy and soon after joined the United States Army National Guard. Known to many people as "The Bread Man," Gordon worked for more than 35 years for Country Kitchen as a salesman. He was a hard worker who missed only 3 days in all the years he worked. He met and married his first wife, Lynn, in 1962, and together they had several businesses including baby shoe bronzing, memorial flower arrangements, and tuxedo rentals from their home in Lincoln, a Christian bookstore, and Pratt's Hodgepodge Shop. After losing Lynn in 2006, he was blessed to be married to Donna Reed Brown in 2008, with whom he was able to share almost 14 years of fun, laughter, and love. He adored and loved his "Chickie." After retirement, Gordon worked in the produce department in Hannaford in Lincoln and was a selectman for the Town of Winn. After receiving his Master Gardening certification, he established a high-bush blueberry business on his farm that drew customers from miles around. Gordon deeply loved the Lord and was a member of Mattawamkeag Church of God for more than 40 years. He was a storyteller, known for jokes and pranks to make people belly laugh. He was very generous and had a strong desire to help people. Gordon loved the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed reading western novels. He spent many happy hours talking with his friends at "McDonald's University" in Lincoln. Gordon loved his family deeply and is survived by his sister, Gloria Blake of Lincoln; and his wife, Donna Brown Pratt of Winn. He is also survived by daughter, Kelly (Pratt) Emery and husband, Alan, of Houlton and daughter, Karen (Pratt) Cornell and husband, Chip, of Erwin, North Carolina; stepchildren (whom he loved as his own), Deborah (Brown) Capeci, husband, Jonathan, and their family, of Pennsylvania, Sandra (Brown) Thurlow, husband, Todd, and their family, of Winn, and Steven Brown, wife, Aleyne, and their family, of Lincoln. Gordon gained a bonus daughter over the years, Sara Susen, husband, Josh, and their family, of Fernandina Beach, Florida. He is also survived by granddaughters, Bethany (Emery) Crone and husband, Alex, of Houlton, Hannah (Emery) Smith and husband, Tyler, of Clayton, North Carolina, Rebekah (Emery) Wilson and husband, Jed, of Brownfield, and Lydia Cornell of Erwin, North Carolina; great-granddaughters, Jacey and Gracelynn Crone of Houlton, Olive Smith of Clayton, North Carolina, and Norah Wilson of Brownfield; as well as a special nephew and niece, Bill and Sandra Chesley, with whom he shared a love of gardening. He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife of 44 years, Lynn (Towle) Pratt; and his brother-in-law, Dale Blake. The family would like to thank the staffs of PBH in Lincoln and EMMC in Bangor for their kindness and outstanding care. A memorial service will be held in the spring at Mattawamkeag Church of God. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, Lincoln. Messages of condolence may be expressed at lamsonfh.com. Published on January 10, 20221
