     Alice Julia Black, daughter of Wallace Beniona Black and Lenora Holmes Goodwin, was born on 27 December 1888 at Dedham, Hancock, Maine.1

     Alice died at age 75, on 31 December 1963, at Haverhill, Massachusetts,3 and was buried at South Buxton Cemetery, Buxton, York, Maine.4

     Alice Julia Black appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Bangor, Penobscot, Maine in the household of her cousin, Nettie Estelle Burrill and her husband, Granville Dexter Goodwin She was a second cousin, twice removed of Nettie.6

Obituary

MISS ALICE BLACK

- — SACO— Miss Alice J. Black, 75, a resident of 246 North Street, Saco, died Tuesday afternoon at a Haverhill, Mass hospital after a short illness. She was born December 27, 1888 at Dedham, the daughter of Wallace B. and Lenora (Goodwin) Black. She had lived at Bangor several years before moving to Saco. Miss Black was graduated from Castine Normal School, taught in the schools at Dedham and for 31 years at Houlton High §chool, retiring about 12 years ago. She had been head of the commercial department. She was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church at Saco, was treasurer of the York County Association of Congregational Churches and was a member of Annette Chapter Order of Eastern Star at Saco. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Donald Doe of Tenants Harbor, Mrs. Roland Jackson of Kennebunk and Mrs. Alfred Berry of Saco: one brother Lester M. Black of Saco; one aunt several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 pm at the First Parish Congregational Church, Saco. Friends may call at the Dennett and Craig Funeral Home, Saco, Thursday from 4 to 6 and 7 to 10 pm. Interment will be in Buxton Lower Corner Cemetery Buxton.7
