James Philip Hammond of Gardiner and Miss Susie Beatrice Garland of this city were married Saturday evening at the home of the officiating clergyman, Rev. A. Francis Walch. The single ring service was used and the couple were unattended. Mr. Hammond is shoecutter employed in Gardiner. After a brief wedding trip they will make their home in Augusta.1,2

     Ellen M. Haney was born on 7 November 1846.2,3

     Ellen, at age 20, married Henry N. Black at age 26, son of Benoni Black and Sally (Dolly) Norton, on 12 May 1867 at Dedham, Hancock, Maine, by William S. Shaw.4,5

     Ellen died on 22 December 1925 at age 79.6 and was buried at Union Cemetery, Dedham, Hancock, Maine.7
