     Richard married Ida Van Dyke, daughter of Abraham Van Dyke and Sarah Honeyman, on 1 January 1830.1,5

     Richard married Mary Elizabeth Swick, daughter of Jacob H. Swick and Elizabeth E. Murphy, on 10 October 1867, at Somerset, New Jersey.6,7 Richard Sutton Vliet witnessed the death of Richard Sutton Vliet on 26 November 1889 at Bedminster, Somerset, New Jersey,8,9,10 and was buried at Lamington Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Lamington, Somerset, New Jersey.8

Their children, Ida, Charles and George were listed as living with them.His daughter, Garetta her husband, Joseph Hardenburgh Voorhees and their children, William, Kate and Richard were listed as living with them. Finally, Mary's father, Jacob Swick, was also there.14
