Carl Wickman, son of John Wickman and Christina Carlson, was born on 16 May 1873 at Tremont, Massachusetts.^1,2

     Due to a need for men to serve during World War I, the United States instituted a draft. The first registration was for men between the ages of 21 and 31. As a result, this first registration included men born between June 5, 1886 and June 5, 1896. As World War I continued to escalate, the United States instituted a second draft registration. The second registration was for men who had turned 21 since June 5, 1917, so it added men born between June 5, 1896 and June 5, 1897. Two months later, a supplemental registration was held on August 24, 1918 for men who had become 21 years of age since June 5, 1918, adding the names of men who were born between June 5, 1897 and August 24, 1897. With no end in sight for World War I, the United States instituted it's third and final registration. It included all men who were between the ages of 18 and 21, and 31 to 45 years of age. This added younger men than the previous registrations, those who were born between September 12, 1897 and September 12, 1900; and added an older group of men, born between September 12, 1873 and September 12, 1888. Carl filled out a draft card for World War I on 12 September 1918 (at age 45), while living at Burnett, Dodge, Wisconsin. He was self employed as a farmer and described as height, medium and medium build with blue eyes and brown hair..³

     Carol A. Wickman, daughter of Chester Vernon Wickman and Ellen Marie Catlin, was born on 18 January 1945 at Rice Lake, Barron, Wisconsin.¹

     Carol married Robert A. Nelson circa 1965.²

     Cecelia Christine Wickman, daughter of John Wickman and Christina Carlson, was born on 23 October 1893 at Buurnett, Wisconsin.¹

     Chase Joseph Wickman, son of David Bruce Wickman and Catherine Dawn Hitzeman, was born on 23 February 1994 at Anoka, Minnesota.¹

BIOGRAPHY Chester "Chet" V. Wickman, 93, of Cumberland died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Care and Rehab-Cumberland. He was born December 27, 1923 in Burnett County, WI to Edward and Hattie (Warner) Wickman. He was married in Pipe Lake on June 26, 1943 to Ellen Catlin who preceded him in death on October 31, 1999. In his free time, Chet enjoyed being outside - hunting and fishing. Chet and Ellen loved spending time and traveling with family and friends. Chet is survived by his daughter, Carol (Robert) Nelson of Red Wing, MN; sons, Randy (Rebecca) Wickman of Shell Lake and Roy (Kathleen) Wickman of Almena; daughter-in-law, Clare Wickman of Greeley, CO; 18 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and sisters-in-law, Mildred Wickman of Forest Lake, MN and June Wickman of Shell Lake. He was preceded in death by his wife, son, Robert Wickman, grandson, Aaron Wickman and brothers, Roy, Ralph, Raymond, Joseph, Elmer, Rueben, Paul and Stanley Wickman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 30, 2017 at First Lutheran Church, Arland, WI with Rev. Timothy Vettrus officiating. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery, Arland, WI. Pallbearers are Steve Wickman, David Moin, Clint Wickman, Logan Wickman, Kent Wickman and Mike Mattson. Honorary pallbearer is Derrick Travis. Visitation will be from 1:00-4:00 PM on Sunday at Skinner Funeral Home, Cumberland and one hour prior to service on Monday at the church.²

     Chester died on 24 January 2017, at Cumberland, Barron, Wisconsin, at age 93,¹ and was buried at Independent Cemetery, Arland, Barron, Wisconsin.²
