Sarah Wyckoff1

F, b. July 1867, d. 2 January 1950
     Sarah Wyckoff was born in July 1867 at New York.2

     Sarah married Edmund W. Voorhies, son of Jacobus Voorhies and Eliza Jane Van Dyke, in 1888.1,3

     Sarah and Edmund were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in November 1938, at Ocean Ave, Flatbush, Kings, New York.4

     Sarah died on 2 January 1950, at age 82,5 and was buried at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings, New York.6

     Sarah and Edmund appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Brooklyn, Kings, New York, at Ocean Avenue, enumerated 18 June 1900 Edmund was working as a carpenter. Their children, Howard Wyckoff and Edna S. were listed as living with them.7

     Sarah and Edmund appeared on the 1905 New York Census of Brooklyn, Kings, New York, at Ocean Avenue, enumerated 1 June 1905. Edmund was working at a lumber mill. They had a servant in the home. Their children, Howard Wyckoff and Edna S. were listed as living with them.8

     Sarah and Edmund appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Brooklyn, Kings, New York, at Ocean Avenue, enumerated 30 April 1910. Edmund was a Brooklyn postmaster. They had a servant in the home Their children, Howard Wyckoff and Edna S. were listed as living with them..9

     Sarah and Edmund appeared on the 1915 New York Census of Brooklyn, Kings, New York, at Ocean Avenue, enumerated 1 June 1915. Edmund was the commissioner of public works. Their children, Edna S. were listed as living with them.10

     Sarah and Edmund appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Brooklyn, Kings, New York, enumerated 10 January 1920. Their children, Edna S. were listed as living with them.11

     Sarah and Edmund appeared on the 1925 New York Census of Brooklyn, Kings, New York, enumerated 1 June 1925, Their daughter, Edna S., her husband, William and daughter, Elizabeth were listed as living with them.12

     Sarah and Edmund appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Brooklyn, Kings, New York, at 2188 Quentin Road, enumerated 1930. Edmund was city employed, listed as a shipping company. Their daughter, Edna S., her husband, William, and their daughters, Elizabeth A. and Ellen G. were listed as living with them.13

     Sarah and Edmund appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Brooklyn, Kings, New York, at Ocean Avenue, enumerated 1940. Edmund was working as a real estate broker. They had one boarder, Esther Carlson, age 23, working as a housekeeper for a private family Their daughter, Edna S., her husband, William and their two children, Elizabeth and Ellen were listed as living with them. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $16.26 in the year 2012. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2012 would have cost $.21 cents in 1940.14
