He was renting at the time, paying $48.00 per month. Their children, Carol A., Joyce Kathryn and Richard were listed as living with them. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $21.35 in the year 2022. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2022 would have cost $.17 cents in 1940.6

Mrs. C. R. Voorhees

Bound Brook - Funeral services will be held Monday for Mrs. Kathryn Voorhees, 47, of 566 Windsor St., who died of a' heart attack Wednesday evening (Aug. 3, 1955) while visiting the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Meyers in Lebanon. Mrs. Voorhees, wife of C. Richard Voorhees, was formerly nurse at the Bound Brook Hospital. She had resided here 15 years. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Richard Jr., Garry and John, and two daughters, Carolyn and Joyce, all at home. The funeral will be held from the Conroy Funeral Home at 8:30 a. m. Monday. A Requiem Mass will follow in St, Joseph's Church at 9 a. m. Interment will be in St Joseph's Cemetery, Bridgewater Township.4
