SOURDOUGH OF '98 ENDS LIFE

BERKELEY, April 24, George Diamond, 62, Alaskan 'sour dough', who pushed into the Yukon in '97 in search of gold, was dead today at his home, at 2940 Harper street, victim of a self-inflicted bullet. Diamond's body was discovered yesterday afternoon by his wife, Mrs. Clymena Diamond, when she returned from a shopping tour. On the floor, beside the body was a brief note expressing regret at his action and asking that his ashes be scattered over San Francisco bay. Ill 'health was given as the cause of his suicide.5,6

     Minnie (Minerva) Diamond, daughter of Andrew Jackson Diamond and Mary Sullivan, was born on 14 April 1869 at Ontario, Canada.3,4

     She appeared on the 1881 Canada Census of Grimsvy, Lincoln, Ontario, Canada, in the household of her parents, Andrew and Mary.5

     Minnie, at age 20, married George Stanley French at age 26, son of John George French and Ellen Perry, on 29 August 1889, at Wentworth, Ontario, Canada. There religions George, was Episcopal and Minnie, Methodist. They were married by Mungo Fraser.1,6

     Minnie and George Stanley French were 1901 Canada on 9 April 1901 at Ontario, Canada.7

     Minnie and George Stanley French were 1911 Canada in 1911 at Cliff Ave, Barton Township, Ontario, Canada, George was working as a merchant.8

     Minnie died on 5 May 1933, at Barton Township, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada, at age 64. Minnie's cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage.9
