Hazel Simons1

     Hazel Simons was born circa 1888 at Michigan.2

     Hazel married Erick John Olson, son of Olof Olson and Margreta Vilhelmina Brodin, on 11 August 1909, at Cadillac, Wexford, Michigan.1

     Her married name was Olson.1 Hazel and Erick were divorced before 1939.3

     Hazel died on 22 April 1974,4 and was buried at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Boyne, Charlevoix, Michigan.4

Census

     Hazel and Erick appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Boyne, Charlevoix, Michigan, at 29 Adames Street, enumerated 27 April 1910. According to the census, Erick was working at a Polash Factory.5

     Hazel and Erick appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Boyne, Charlevoix, Michigan, at River Street, enumerated 5 January 1920. Erick owned his home, free of mortgage. The census indicates he was the proprietor of either a polash or potash factory. Their children, Kenneth John were listed as living with them.6

     Hazel appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Boyne, Charlevoix, Michigan, enumerated 10 April 1930. Hazel was renting, paying $5.00 a month. She had a radio set in the home. Hazel was working as a saleswoman at a radio store. Her son, Kenneth John was listed as living with her..7

     Hazel appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, at Jefferson Avenue, enumerated 17 April 1940. At this time, Hazel was divorced, renting, paying $35.00 a month. She was working as manager at a cafeteria. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $21.35 in the year 2022. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2022 would have cost $.17 cents in 1940.3
