     Anson Hubbard Thomas, son of Samuel Thomas and Maria Chase, was born on 6 September 1830 at Pittsfield, Somerset, Maine.1,3

     Anson, son of Samuel Thomas and Maria Chase, married Dulcenea M. (?) circa 1855.4

     Anson left a Will on 7 August 1907, at Abbot, Piscataquis, Maine.
Be it remembered that I, Anson H. Thomas, of Abbot in the County of Piscataquis. and State of Maine, being of lawful age and of sound and disposing mind and memory, but mindful of the uncertainty of life do make, publish and declare this my last will and testament.
After the payment of my just debts, funeral charges and expenses of administration, I dispose of my estate, as follows: All the aforesaid liabilities shall be paid from property in Par. one.
Par one.
I hereby give bequeath and devise unto my son Christopher Thomas for and during his life as herein after set out all my farming tools my carts, wagons, sleds, harnesses, chains, farm machinery, horses, cattle, sheep, swine and fowl and my homestead farm bounded and described as follows, on the north by land of Chas. L. Adams and John W. Leeman, on the east by land of my brother S. J. Thomas and the J. H. Edes farm and on the south by land of Mrs. Tripp. Said Christopher Thomas is to have the right to cut such lumber from said farm as he sees fit and sell the same and to handle and manage said farm or any part thereof and the real estate shall at all times be free from any of the debts and liabilities of said Christopher Thomas and no part of said real estate shall at any time be taken for debts now owned by him or debts hereafter contracted by him.
This property is willed to him upon the condition that he shall at all times support and maintain his mother, Dulcenea M. Thomas in his family on said homestead and her furnish with all necessary food clothing nursing medicine and medical attendance during her life and at her death give her a Christian burial and erect at her grave a suitable grave stone and shall at all times furnish a home to my daughter Ida E. Thomas and her provide with all necessary food and every day clothes in his family on said homestead during her natural life. In case of sickness all medicine, medical attendance and nursing of said Ida E. Thomas by my son William O. Thomas from the trust fund herein after set out and her best clothes shall also be paid from said trust funds.
After the death of said Christopher Thomas the real estate here tofor willed to him shall go to his son Anson Hubbard Thomas his heirs and assigns but in case my said wife Dulcenea M. Thomas and my daughter Ida E. Thomas shall out live said Christopher said Anson Hubbard Thomas shall carry out and fulfill all the conditions herein before set out. It is expressly stipulated that said real estate shall at all times be held for the support of said Dulcenea M. Thomas and Ida E. Thomas as herein before set out.
All the rest residue and remainder of my estate real personal and mixed I give bequeath and devise unto my son said William O. Thomas in trust for Ida E. Thomas aforesaid. Said William O. Thomas shall have the right and I do hereby authorize him to sell and convey such real estate other than the homestead farm which I may own at my decease and give deed thereof and convert such other property as I may have into money and invest the same where it shall be secure and from said trust fund to use such sum or sums as may be necessary to pay all the expenses of said Ida E. Thomas other than her board in the family of said Christopher Thomas and her common or every day clothes as herein before set out.
After the decease of said Ida E. Thomas whatever shall remain from said trust fund I give and bequeath to my four children Wm. O. Thomas Joseph E. Thomas Christopher Thomas and Gertrude M. Harrington in equal shares.
I give nothing to the children my deceased son Charles.
In case said Christopher Thomas should not carry out the conditions herein before set out or in case of his decease said Anson Hubbard Thomas shall not carry out said conditions, then said real estate shall go to my trustee to handled and carried on by him but not to be sold by him unless it is necessary in order to support and maintain said Dulcenea M. Thomas and Ida E. Thomas. In case said homestead should pass to said trustee under the terms of this will then in such event after the death of said Dulcenea M. Thomas and Ida E. Thomas I give bequeath and devise the same to my children aforesaid in equal shares.
I do hereby appoint Christopher Thomas sole executor of this my last will and testament.
In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand this seventh day of August in the year one thousand nine hundred and seven. Anson H. Thomas
Signed published and declared by the above named Anson H. Thomas to be his last will and testament in our presence, who in his presence and the presence of one another and at his request, subscribe our names hereunto as witnesses, this seventh day of August A. D. 1907, at Abbot, Maine. C. L. Adams Ada H. Adams Henry Hudson.5


     Anson died at age 77, on 9 September 1907, at Abbot, Piscataquis, Maine, Anson's cause of death was listed as old age.6

     Anson and Dulcenea appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Abbot, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated 5 July 1870. Anson was listed as a farmer. His real estate was valued at $950.00 and personal property at $ 973.00 Their children, Joseph A., William O., Ida E., Charles W. and Gertrude were listed as living with them.9

     Anson and Dulcenea appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Abbot, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated 10 June 1880. Hubbard was working as a farmer. For this census, he was using his middle given name Their children, William O., Ida E., Charles W., Gertrude and Christopher were listed as living with them.10

     Anson and Dulcenea appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Abbot, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated, 2 June 1900. Anson was listed as a farmer. They had a boarder, Walter McKenney, living in the household. Their children, Ida E. and Christopher were listed as living with them.11

BOCA RATON Fla DOVER-FOXCROFT — Charles H. Thomas, 60, husband of Gladys Emerson Thomas died unexpectedly Jan. 31, 1981, at a Boca Raton hospital. He was a 14-year resident of Boca Raton and formerly of Dover-Foxcroft. He most recently had been employed for nine years as a maintenance mechanic for the State of Florida Mr. Thomas was bom in Sangerville April 7, 1920, the son of David and Doris Garland Thomas. Besides his wife of Boca Raton, he is survived by six sons, Stuort of Omeville, Gerald and Ronald both of East Holden, David of Miilinocket, James and Paul, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., three daughters, Cathie Goodine of Dover-Foxcroft, Cindy Caramella of Pompano Beoch, Fla., Vickie Schnttker of Savannah, Ga., two brothers, Clyde Thomas of Guilford and Dana Thomas of Fanning Springs, Fla; three sisters Arlene Thompson of West Palm Beach, Fla., Frances Kohn of Riviera Beach, Fla., Eleanor Levesque of Nashua, NH and 21 grandchildren. A sister Joanne Anderson had predeceased Mr. Thomas. Funeral services will be conducted at the Lary Funeral Home at 2 pm Thursday with the Rev. Coleman O'Toole of St. Thomas Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will fallow in the family lot in the Rural Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 pm Wednesday.
