     Stanley W. Leathers, son of Elwyn A. Leathers and Addie E. Wentworth, was born on 2 November 1888 at Crystal Lake, Maine.1,2,3

     Stanley, at age 24, married Margaret Blanche Curtis at age 20, daughter of George Warren Curtis and Nettie Ellen Burrill, on 22 November 1912.1

     Stanley W. Leathers died at age 88, on 29 December 1976, at Wright, Minnesota.2,4,5 He was buried in Mound Cemetery at Brooklyn, Hennepin, Minnesota.5,6

     Due to a need for men to serve during World War I, the United States instituted a draft. The first registration was for men between the ages of 21 and 31. As a result, this first registration included men born between June 5, 1886 and June 5, 1896. Stanley W. Leathers filled out a draft card, on 5 June 1917 4355 Scott Terrace Village, Hennepin, Minnesota. He was described as medium height, medium build, blue eyes, and light hair. At the time he was working as a laborer at E. P. Stacey Fruit Company, Minneapolis, Minnesota.7

     Stanley and Margaret appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Brooklyn Center Village, Hennepin, Minnesota, enumerated 9 January 1920. Stanley was working as a farmer on a truck farm.. Their children, Helen, Ruth Wilma, Elwyn C. and Ann were listed as living with them.8

     Stanley and Margaret appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Brooklyn Center Village, Hennepin, Minnesota, enumerated 3 April 1930. Stanley was working as a farmer on a truck farm. He owned his home and had a radio set. Their children, Helen, Ruth Wilma, Elwyn C., Ann, Blanche and Martha were listed as living with them.9

     Stanley and Margaret appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Brooklyn Center Village, Hennepin, Minnesota, enumerated 4 April 1940. Stanley had his own farm currently valued at $1800.00. The census indicated he completed three years high school and Margaret completed four years high school. Their children, Helen, Blanche and Martha were listed as living with them. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $16.26 in the year 2012. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2012 would have cost $.21 cents in 1940.10
