     Phyllis Marion Burrill, daughter of Clifford Loring Burrill and Marion Elizabeth Davis, was born on 12 November 1928 at Penobscot, Maine.2

Phyllis Burril Is Maine Chautauqua Scholarship Girl Miss Phyllis Burrill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Burrill of 22 School street, Brewer, was chosen the Chautauqua Scholarship Girl from Maine at a meeting of the executive board of the Maine Branch of the King's Daughters and Sons held Tuesday evening at the King's Daughter's home.
Miss Burrill, who is 18 years of age and an honor student in the senior class at Brewer high school, was among those chosen for the speaking contests in her junior year. She has been employed by the Brewer Public Library in part time work and plans to enter college this fall.
Her church activities have included singing in the choir, acting as a superintendent of a junior department, and participating actively in the Pilgrim Fellowship where she has shown leadership abilities.
The Chautauqua scholarship, which was presented to the Maine Branch of the King's Daughters and Sons by the Chautauqua chapter, will entitle Miss Burrill to six weeks of study at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, N. Y., where she will take a course in Christian leadership and other elective courses for college credit.3


     Dean and Evelyn were hosts to weekend visitors, 2 July 1949 at Seymour Lake, Morgan, Orleans, Vermont.

     Phyllis Marion Burrill and Lester Frank Whitney were engaged on 9 May 1950.5

     Phyllis, at age 21, daughter of Clifford Loring Burrill and Marion Elizabeth Davis, married Lester Frank Whitney at age 22, son of Capt. Walter E. Whitney and Orasie LaPointe, on 29 July 1950 at East Lansing, Ingham, Michigan.5,6

     Phyllis and Lester were in this photograph which was taken 1979.7
