     Bertha M. Chase, daughter of Sewell Chase and Louisa Furbush, was born on 27 September 1871 at Jackson, Waldo, Maine.1

     Bertha, at age 20, daughter of Sewell Chase and Louisa Furbush, married Edward R. Billington at age 54, son of Daniel Stephen Billington and Lavina Hinckley Eddy, on 16 May 1892 at Brooks, Penobscot, Maine, by Humphry Sewall, Clergy.2

     Bertha M. Chase died on 29 July 1906 at Dixmont, Penobscot, Maine, at age 34. Bertha's cause of death was listed as acute miliary tuberculosis.3

     Bertha and Edward appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Dixmont, Penobscot, Maine, enumerated 6 June 1900 Edward was working as a carpenter. The census indicated Bertha had five children. Their children, Maude E., Grace Edna, Myra A., Percy and Bernard Elmer were listed as living with them.4
