Mrs. Alberta Alice Tewksbury, died here Sunday afternoon at the home of her son after a short illness. Mrs. Tewksbury was born in Bradford March 29, 1865, the daughter of Augusta and Elizabeth (Leathers) Danforth. She was a life long resident here and at the time of her death held the Boston Post gold-headed cane as the town's oldest resident. She was a 50 year member of Independent Grange. Survivors include Mrs. Doris Perry of Milo; one son; Harry Tewksbury of Bradford, and several nieces and nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Williams Funeral Home in Bradford, the Rev. James Sawyer officiating. The body will be entombed for burial in the spring at the Williams Cemetery, Bradford. Friends may call at the funeral home.5

Margaret was born Sept. 29, 1922, in Bangor, the daughter of Leslie F. and Mary S. Burrill. She was the wife of the late David Geer Hempstead, whom she married Jan. 1, 1946. Margaret attended the Mary Snow School in Bangor, and graduated from Bangor High School in 1940. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Maine General Hospital and the University of Maine in 1945. She received her Master's degree in Maternal and Child Health Nursing and Nursing Education from Boston University in 1972. She held nursing positions in Bangor, Seattle, Wash., and Cincinnati, Ohio. She served as a professor of Nursing Education in the Massachusetts Community College system and held the position of Nursing Program Director at Bunker Hill Community College. Margaret was a member of Phi Mu sorority and various professional nursing organizations. Margaret and David lived in Augusta, Cincinnati, Ohio and Boxford, Mass. Upon their retirement, Margaret and David moved to Sun City Center, Fla. and continued to summer at their cottage on Onawa Lake. In Sun City Center, she was active in the United Community Church, dance groups, bridge groups and enjoyed theater, music and travel. She played the violin in the Sarasota Pops Orchestra for nine years. She is survived by two children, Judith Anne Hempstead Rick and her husband, Jonathan of Long Lake, Minn., and David Burrill Hempstead and his wife, Rolande of Yarmouth; her sister, Eleanor Burrill Hill of Sun City Center, Fla; and five grandchildren, Jeffrey Hempstead Rick and his wife, Lisa, Mark David Hempstead, Rebecca Libby Rick, Amy Jean Hempstead and Christopher Frank Hempstead; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Hempstead Hemman of Norwood, Mass. and Elizabeth Hempstead Dexter and her husband, Russell of Auburn. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Sacred Heart Church, Yarmouth, and 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at United Community Church, Sun City Center, Fla. Interment will be 1 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to favorite charities in Margaret's name.7

     Ethel Alberta Hall, daughter of John Amial Hall and Nellie Jane Danforth, was born on 25 August 1885 at Bradford, Penobscot, Maine.2

     Ethel, at age 22, married Philip S. Coffin at age 28, son of Charles M. Coffin and Caroline H. Cookson, on 31 August 1907 at Charleston, Penobscot, Maine.3,4,5

     On 11 December 1959 Ethel sent a letter to Alice . Ethel says she will be going to and "Old Age" home. Also, the different events done there on a daily basis. She speaks of Frank Burgess' death and Annie Kenny's death.6

     On 3 August 1960 Ethel sent a letter to Alice . Ethel discusses Bobby and Phyllis (Ethel's daughter) coming up. Plus the loss of Phil (her husband's birthday, would have been 82 on Oct. 20th.) She makes mention of Henry (Alice's husband) with thoughts he is at the fair everyday at Rockland, Maine.7

     Ethel Alberta Hall died at age 74, on 20 August 1960, at Rockland, Maine.6

     Ethel Alberta Hall was buried at Gray Cemetery, Dover Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine.8

     Ethel's obituary read as follows:
Ethel A. Coffin, 74, widow of Philip Coffin died Aug 20 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Philip Bradley, in Rockland. She was born in Bradford Aug 25 1885 the daughter of Miles and Nellie Danforth Hall. She was graduated from Higgins Classical Institute and taught school in Charleston. She was a member of the Free Baptist Church, the WCTU, and of the Educational Club. Surviving are a daughter, Phyllis Bradley of Rockland; one half brother, Henry Smith of Dover Foxcroft; one grandson, Robert Bradley, two neices and one nephew. Services were held at the Burpee Funeral Home in Rockland, the Rev. J. Charles MacDonald officiating. Bural was in the Gray Cemetery.9

     Ethel and Philip appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Dover, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated 15 January 1920, Philip listed his occupation as a "car repairer" in the ""car shop".. Their children Pauline M., Charles P. and Phyllis were listed as living with them Philip S. Coffin's mother, Nellie Jane was listed as living with them.12

     Ethel and Philip appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Dover Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated 24 April 1930. Philip owned his own home, his real estate valued at $1500.00. He worked as a mill wright Their children, Pauline M., Charles P. and Phyllis were listed as living with them.13

     Ethel appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Bath, Sagadahoc, Maine, at 21 Valley Road, enumerated 17 April 1940. Ethel was listed as a widow. On April 01, 1935, she was living in Dover Foxcroft.. Her children, Pauline M. and Phyllis were listed as living with her. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $16.26 in the year 2012. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2012 would have cost $.21 cents in 1940.14

Jonas Blood, husband of Eliza Putnam
     Jonas Blood was born circa 10 January 1784.2

     Jonas, married Eliza Putnam at age 25, daughter of James Rideout and Mary Blackman, on 28 February 1809 at Hollis, New Hampshire.3

     Jonas Blood died on 17 June 1847, at Maine.1

     Jonas Blood was buried at Hillside Cemetery, Bucksport, Hancock, Maine.1
