     Edna Bernice Henderson was born on 6 February 1915 at Hermon, Penobscot, Maine.2

     Edna, at age 13, married Leroy Elmer Danforth at age 24, son of Philip Leroy Danforth and Bertha R. Braley, on 25 August 1928 at Maine.1

     Edna died at age 80, on 12 March 1995.3

     Edna and Leroy appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Bradford, Penobscot, Maine, enumerated 10 May 1940. Leroy was renting a home and working as a farm laborer. He completed 9th grade Their children, Katherine L., Francis M. and Geneva P. were listed as living with them. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $16.26 in the year 2012. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2012 would have cost $.21 cents in 1940.4

LEVANT - Edna Bernice Barrett, 80, passed on March 12, 1995, at a Bangor health-care center. She was born in Hermon, Feb. 6, 1915, the daughter of George and Nellie (Braley) Henderson. Surviving are seven children Kathleen L and her husband Carroll H Staples of Levant, Frances M Beaulieu, Everett P. and his wife Ellen Danforth all of Bangor, Geneva P. and her husband Lester Harvey of Carmel, Carolyn R. and her husband Gene Trott of Bangor, Richard J ond his wife Gloria Allen of Eddington, James A. and his wife Cindy Allen of Kenduskeag; one brother Carlton Henderson of Newburgh; 27 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a great-grandson, R.J. Mansir and a companion Red Day. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Monday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 10 am Tuesday with the Rev. Gilbert Reed, pastor, of the South Levant Baptist Church officiating. Gifts in her memory may be sent in support of the family to Cheryl Withington, RR 1 Box 294, Bangor, 04401.3
