     Abial Lovejoy, son of Jacob Lovejoy and Sarah Sally Townsend, was born on 12 August 1826 at Sidney, Kennebec, Maine.1,3

     Abial and Harriet Watson Warren filed a marriage intention on 26 February 1858 at Charleston, Penobscot, Maine, Filed by Amasa Holden, Town Clerk.4

     Abial died on 15 April 1904, at Mendocino, California, at age 77,5 and was buried at Branscomb Cemetery, Branscomb, Mendocino, California.5

     Abial Lovejoy, his wife, Harriet and child appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Charleston, Penobscot, Maine, in the household of his parents, Jacob and Sarah.7

     Abial and Harriet appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Charleston, Penobscot, Maine, enumerated 11 June 1860. Abial was a farmer. His real estate was valued at $1300.00 and his personal property at $581.00. Their son, William Norton, Thatcher Townsend and Amanda B., his parents, Jacob and Sarah Sally, his brother and wife, Loriston Hale, Clara Greenlief and children were listed as living with them.8

     Abial and Harriet appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Charleston, Penobscot, Maine, enumerated 13 July 1870. Abial was a farmer. His real estate was valued at $880.00 and the personal property at $358.00. It appears, Abial was head of household now. Their children, Loriston Hale and Charles Warren were listed as living with them Abial's parents, Jacob and Sarah Sally were also with them.9
