Isaac Bolster Jr.1

M, b. 28 April 1737, d. 27 April 1825
     Isaac Bolster Jr., son of Isaac Bolster and Hepsibah (?), was born on 28 April 1737. He was an officer in the war of the Revolution, holding a Lieutenant’s Commission and afterwards that of Captain. He was one of the minute men who marched to Concord Apr. 17, 1775. He was an early settler of Hebron and in 1784, moved to Paris where he died.2

     Isaac, at age 24, married Mary Dwinel on 24 July 1761.3

     Isaac Bolster Jr. was one of the Minute Men who marched to Concord on 19 April 1775 serving as Lieutenant in Capt John Putnam's Company, Col. Ebenezar Learned's Reg't. Later Isaac was commissioned a Captain. One of the early settlers of Hebron [Maine], he later moved to Paris Maine where in 1784 he owned considerable property. In 1804 he purchased several lots in Foxcroft.3

     Isaac conveyed with his sons, lots 3 and 4 of the second range in Foxcroft to Bela Jr. and Jacob Hammond on 11 March 1815.1

     Isaac Bolster Jr. died at age 87, on 27 April 1825.3

     Abraham Bolster, son of Isaac Bolster Jr. and Mary Dwinel, was born on 25 August 1763.1

     Abraham, married Bathsheba House circa 1783 They originally settled in Paris, Maine.1 Abraham Bolster was involved when Isaac Bolster Jr. was with his sons, lots 3 and 4 of the second range in Foxcroft to Bela Jr. and Jacob Hammond on 11 March 1815.2

     Abraham was after 1820 an industrious, hardworking man and accumulated a large property, but became involved in debt by too extravagant building and was obliged to give up his farm. He decided to try pioneer life in "Old Foxcroft" and purchased lot #4 in the 4th range.1

     Abraham Bolster appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine., is probably the female under age 60 to 70 listed in the household. A male child, age 20 to 30 was also listed. His wife Bathsheba House.3

Jacob Bolster, husband of Ruth Daggett
     Jacob Bolster, son of Abraham Bolster and Bathsheba House, was born on 3 February 1805.1,2

     Circa December 1826 He settled in Foxcroft on the large farm he had purchased of his mother, December 11, 1826. He cleared the greater part of the farm and erected the comfortable buildings, now standing, and in which he and his estimable wife passed over fifty years of wedded life. (Left-click on this ICON to read of the sales of the farm) (an unknown value) at Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine.1

     Jacob, married Ruth Daggett, daughter of Rev. Thomas Daggett and Ruth Record, in 1829.1

     Jacob Bolster, in consideration of Fifty dollars, bought all of the South part of Lot Number Four in the Fourth Range of Lots in said Foxcroft all that part which lies South of the Brook which runs from East to West across said Lot containing Thirty Acres more or Less from Bathsheba House on 15 April 1845. The deed was witnessed by by Lyman Lee, Justice of the Peace.3

     Jacob Bolster, in consideration of Fourteen Hundred dollars, sold his homestead farm and all buildings thereon situated in said Foxcroft being Lot numbered two (2) in the third (3) range of Lots in said town, excepting the parts thereof now owned by Alvin Adams and Thomas Towne and also all the South part of Lot numbered four (4) in the fourth (4th) range of lots in said town which lies South of the brook which runs from East to West across said lot, both of said parcels of land containing one hundred and twenty six acres, more or less and being the same premises conveyed me the said Jacob Bolster by two deeds, one from Bathsheba Bolster, dated December 11th, 1826 and recorded in Penobscot Registry of Deeds, Volume 204, page 493, and the other from Bathsheba Bolster dated April 25th 1845, and recorded in Piscataquis of Deeds Volume 8 Page 531, excepting from this conveyance, the parts of said premises, now owned by said Adams and Towne, to Hattie Bolster and Leroy M. Bolster on 10 June 1881. The deed was witnessed by Ephraim Flint, Justice of the Peace and proved .4

     Jacob Bolster died at age 76, on 14 June 1881.1 He was buried in Lee Cemetery at Dover Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine.5

     Jacob Bolster appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine. It is most probable Ruth Daggett, his wife, listed as the person, female, 20 under 30. Their child, Luther H., was also with them.6

     Jacob Bolster appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine, with a household listed as one son age between 10 to 14, two daughters age 5 to 9 and a female aged 30 to 39 (probably his wife Ruth.)7

     Jacob and Ruth appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated 6 August 1850. Jacob's real estate was valued at $1000.00. Their children, Luther H., Susan A., Hattie, Ellen and Leroy M. were listed as living with them.8

     Jacob and Ruth appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated 2 June 1860.. he worked as a farmer, his real estate valued at $1500.00 and personal property at $770.00. Their children, Susan A., Adelia, Hattie and Leroy M. were listed as living with them.9

     Jacob and Ruth appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated 10 June 1870. Jacob's real estate was valued at $2000.00 and personal property at $925.00. They had one non-family member in the household, Ida M. Gallison. Their children, Leroy M. and Adelia, with her son, Lewis, were listed as living with them.10

     Jacob appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine, enumerated 23 June 1880, Ruth, Jacob's wife had passed away in March of that year. The census was listing him as a farmer. Leroy's wife and children were also living at the farm. Their children, Fred L., Ella F. and Bertha S. were listed as living with them. Jacob's children Hattie and Leroy M. were listed as living with them.11

     Ruth, married Jacob Bolster, son of Abraham Bolster and Bathsheba House, in 1829.1

     Ruth Daggett died at age 75, on 2 March 1880, at Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine. The census indicated she died from lung fever.1,3 She was buried in Lee Cemetery at Dover Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine.4

     Adelia, married Thomas Eaton circa 1854.1

     Adelia and Thomas were recipients of the sale of the Bolster farm. The sale took place on 14 November 1882 at Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine.4
