Note:

Referred to in some Andover records as John Lovejoy, the Revolutionary War hero. He served in the army for a number of years, perhaps until 1785, and probably married Miriam Gray about 1786 and may thenceforth ahve lived in Stoneham, MA. Another report, however, is that John died while a soldier in war service in 1778. This latter report seems to be indicated by Parson French in his South Church books, but it is not definitely certain that the parson copied all his dates correctly. It was perhaps this John Lovejoy who served George Washington in the Commander-In-Chief's Guard according to the supposition of Dr. C.E. Godfrey who wrote the history of this guard. If this is true, John enlisted at Andover for three years on Feburary 19, 1777 in Captain Abbot's company of Colonel Tupper's 10th Continental Army regiment and later was a private in the 11th Mass. regiment in Catpain Benjamin Farnum's company and under Colonel Ebenezer Francis. This is recorded in col/ 2 p 35 of Mass. Tevolutionary Archives. He was transferred to the Commander-in-Chief's Guard March 19, 1778 in which organization he died October 17, 1778 according to Dr. Godfrey. Perhaps this is the John Lovejoy referred to in vol 93 p 228 Mass. Colonial Soldiers, as serving in 1757 in the Andover 'train band'.

     John Lovejoy, son of Hezekiah Lovejoy and Hannah Austin, was born on 24 July 1743.¹

     John Lovejoy died on 17 October 1778 at Andover, Essex, Massachusetts, at age 35.¹

     John Lovejoy, son of William Lovejoy and Joanna Temple, was born on 16 March 1571 at England.¹ John Lovejoy was baptized on 9 June 1573 at England.¹

     John, at age 20, son of William Lovejoy and Joanna Temple, married Cecelia Bromall on 22 September 1591 at England.²

     John Lovejoy died on 9 May 1604 at London, Middlesex, England, at age 33.¹

     John Lovejoy, son of John Lovejoy and Martha Odell, was born on 6 July 1774.¹

     John, at age 19, son of John Lovejoy and Martha Odell, married Mary Dolly Jennings at age 20 on 8 February 1794 at Fayette, Maine.²

     John Lovejoy died on 28 February 1824 at Wayne, Maine, at age 49. Unknown GEDCOM info: 28 FEB 1824.³

     John Lovejoy, son of Ebenezer Lovejoy and Mary Foster, was born on 14 May 1698 at Andover, Essex, Massachusetts.¹

     John, at age 24, son of Ebenezer Lovejoy and Mary Foster, married Hannah Foster on 25 June 1722 at Andover, Essex, Massachusetts.^2,3

     John Lovejoy died on 10 May 1758 at Andover, Essex, Massachusetts, at age 59.¹

     John Lovejoy, son of Robert Lovejoy and Sarah Fox, was born on 18 May 1659¹ and was buried on 15 October 1702.¹
