     James, son of Mathias Scribner Jr. and Olive D. Trim, married Mary T. Downey circa 1896.⁴

     Due to a need for men to serve during World War I, the United States instituted a draft. The first registration was for men between the ages of 21 and 31. As a result, this first registration included men born between June 5, 1886 and June 5, 1896. As World War I continued to escalate, the United States instituted a second draft registration. The second registration was for men who had turned 21 since June 5, 1917, so it added men born between June 5, 1896 and June 5, 1897. Two months later, a supplemental registration was held on August 24, 1918 for men who had become 21 years of age since June 5, 1918, adding the names of men who were born between June 5, 1897 and August 24, 1897. With no end in sight for World War I, the United States instituted it's third and final registration. It included all men who were between the ages of 18 and 21, and 31 to 45 years of age. This added younger men than the previous registrations, those who were born between September 12, 1897 and September 12, 1900; and added an older group of men, born between September 12, 1873 and September 12, 1888. James filled out a draft card for World War I on 12 September 1918 (at age 43), while living at Charleston, Penobscot, Maine. He was employed as a farmer and described as height, tall and stout build with brown eyes and brpwn hair..³

     James died⁵ and was buried at Puddledock Cemetery, Charleston, Penobscot, Maine.⁶

     Justin P. Scribner, son of Mathias Scribner Jr. and Olive D. Trim, was born in December 1866 at Maine.^1,2

     Justin died on 6 August 1903 at Charleston, Penobscot, Maine, at age 36. Justin's cause of death was listed as typhoid fever⁴ and was buried at Puddledock Cemetery, Charleston, Penobscot, Maine.⁵

     Lurinda A. Scribner, daughter of Richard R. Scribner and Amanda M. Farnham, was born in April 1872 at Maine.^3,2,4

     Lurinda, at age 26, daughter of Richard R. Scribner and Amanda M. Farnham, married Fred A. Smith at age 41, son of Benjamin Smith and Elsie O. Duren, on 10 May 1898 at Ornville, Maine.^1,5

     Lurinda died on 8 April 1901³ and was buried at Puddledock Cemetery, Charleston, Penobscot, Maine.⁶

     Lyman E. Scribner, son of Richard R. Scribner and Amanda M. Farnham, was born on 24 December 1875 at Maine.^1,2

     Lyman died on 9 October 1897 at age 21.³ and was buried at Maine.⁴

     Mathias Scribner Jr. was born circa 1840 at Thorndike, Maine.^1,3
