— Mrs. Hadley P. Burrill the former Priscilla B. Simmons was married Wednesday afternoon at the Brewer First Congregational church at a candlelight ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Burrill will reside at 32 School street, Brewer.

Priscilla Simmons Becomes Bride Of Hadley Burrill


Baskets of white gladioli and candelabra decorated the altar of the Brewer First Congregational church Wednesday at 4 p m, when Miss Priscilla Blanche Simmons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry C Simmons of Rockland became the bride of Hadley Proctor Burrill, son of Mrs. Bertha D. Burrill, 32 School street, Brewer, and the late Harold S. Burrill at a candlelight ceremony. The pastor, the Rev. Donald C. Ward officiated, reading the double-ring service in the presence of the immediate families. Mrs. Edward H. Moore, sister of the bridegroom, was matron of honor and the best man was Harold S. Burrill, brother of the bridegroom The bride, who was given in marriage by her father was attractive in a gray and white nylon suit, which she complemented with a shoulder corsage of yellow shattered carnations and baby’s breath. Mrs. Moore was attired in a pink linen suit. Her corsage was of pink shattered carnations with red tips. The bride’s mother, Mrs. Simmons, wore a navy blue linen suit and the bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Burrill chose and black and white sheer suit. Both mothers complemented their costumes with corsages of mixed sweetpeas.
ON MOTOR TRIP
The young couple left by motor on a wedding trip the destination of which was not announced, and upon their return will reside at 32 School street, Brewer The bride was graduated from Portsmouth (N H) high school and Husson college and is employed by the D. D. O’Connell Construction company. The bridegroom a graduate of Brewer high school is proprietor of Maine Charter-Ways. He holds membership in Wildey lodge IOOF, Canton Bangor, Arda Sanctorum the Masons and the Marine Corps league. Among the out-of-town guests at the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Simmons and Mrs. Walter Boland, Rockland; Mr. and Mrs. Donald P. Simmons, Eliot, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Moore and daughters, Carolyn and Priscilla, North Orrington.5,6


     Priscilla died on 23 February 1999, at Brewer, Penobscot, Maine, at age 72,3,7 and was buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor, Penobscot, Maine.8

PRISCILLA S ‘NANA’ BURRILL

BREWER - Priscilla S 'Nana' Burrill, 72, wife of the lote Hodley P. Burrill, died Feb. 23, 1999, at a local nursing center. She was born Jan. 8, 1927, in Rocklond the daughter of Henry and Addie (Pease) Simmons. She attended Union High School ond graduated from the Portsmouth NH High School in 1944. She was a graduate of the Maine School of Commerce (now Husson College) where she was a member of the basketball team. First employed at the Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, NH, she later owned ond operated with her husband the former Maine Charterwoys Bus Service and Burrill's Taxi of Brewer for more than 20 years. She was also employed at the Bangor Learning Center for several years. Mr. and Mrs. Burrill were always very involved with their community, but her family was always her first ond only concern, she was deeply devoted to them. A member of the First Congregational Church of Brewer, where she and Hadley were married on Aug. 22, 1951, she was a member of the Women's Fellowship ond volunteered in the churcn nursery. She was also a member of the Epsilon Delta Alumni Sorority of Husson College. Surviving are her children, Guy Hadley Burrill and his wife Georette of Dedham, Gail Brigalli ond her husband, Curtis Siddons of Brewer, Brian David Burrill and his wife Cindye of Brewer, Bruce Henry Burrill ana his fiancee Paula Hill of Brewer; her grandchildren, Tony Brigalli, Mondy Brigalli, Hadley Burrill, Matthew Burrill, Melanie Burrill, Kent Burrill; several nieces ond nephews. She will be remembered by her special friends, Ruth Schillinger Carolyn Brown, Phyllis Healy, Eunice Arnold, her many friends at the Helen M. Leach Home, and the members of the Dooey family. She was predeceased by her grandson, Robbie Ray and her brothers, Donald Simmons, Henry Simmons; her sister, Eleanor Heald. Friends may call 2-4 ond 6-8 pm Thursday at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 So. Main St., Brewer. Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Friday, Feb. 26, at the First Congregational Church of Brewer with the Rev Constance Wells, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery Bangor. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Memorial Fund or the First Congregational Church of Brewer, 35 Church St., Brewer.11

     Iona died at age 92, on 11 November 1994, at Machias, Washington, Maine,3 and was buried at Dennysville Cemetery, Dennysville, Washington, Maine.3

IONA S SMITH

DENNYSVILLE - Iona S Smith, 92, died Nov. 11, 1994 at a Machias hospital. She was born at Dennysville, Aug. 28, 1902, the daughter of Loring L. and Daisy V. (Carter) Sinclair. She was a graduate of Dennysville High School and the University of Maine, at Machias and taught school in several school systems in Washington County until her retirement in 1969. She is survived by her husband, Leonard M. Smith of Dennysville; one son, John Dudley of Portland; a grandson, Brian Dudley; a great-grandson, Connor, and a great-granddaughter, Meaghan. A graveside service will be held 2 pm, Sunday, at Dennysville Cemetery, with the Rev Ronald Windhorst officiating. Arrangements by Gardner-Hall Funeral Home, Machias.3
