Their children, Albert N., Henry Eldert, Jane Wyckoff, Sarah Maria, Peter Wyckoff and Cornelia Eldert were listed as living with them.11

     Nicholas and Sarah appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 26 July 1870. he was working as a farmer. His real estate was valued at $12,000.00 and personal property at $10,000.00.. Their children, Albert N., Henry Eldert, Peter Wyckoff and Cornelia Eldert were listed as living with them.12

     Nicholas and Sarah appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 19 June 1880. Nicholas was listed as a farmer. Additionaly, they had a 25 year old farm laborer in their household. Their children, Albert N. were listed as living with them.13

     Mattys bought from the heirs of Achais Van Dyke a farm and on May 23, 1712, he bought from the heirs of Col. Van Cortlandt, land at Red Hook, Brooklyn, where he lived in a fine stone mansion. This property was on Gowanus Bay opposite Governor's Island. According to Stiles's "History of Brooklyn", at page 61, Mattys Van Dyke conveyed this Red Hook estate to his son John, who is mentioned as one of his father's Executors in his will proved April 10, 1749. (Quoted from the reference). in 1708.1

     Mattys, married Angenietje "Surname Unknown", daughter of Roelf Janse Van Kirk and Catherine Simons.4

     Mattys Van Dyke died at age 65, in March 1749.2,1

     Mattys left a Will on 8 March 1749 The Will was probated on 10 April 1749.2

     Captain Jan Janse Van Dyke, son of Jan Thomasse Van Dyke and Tryntje Achias or Haegen, was born circa 1650 at Netherlands.2,1,3

     Captain Jan Janse Van Dyke emigrated in 1652.4

     Jan, married Teuntje Thyssen Lanen Van Pelt, daughter of Matthys Van Pelt, on 9 May 1673 at New York City, New York.5,1,4

     Circa 1679 Jan resided in New Utrecht, (an area in the vicinity of what is now known as Fort Hamilton) where he was magistrate in 1679. Governor Leisler by commission which is recorded in the "Documentary History of New York", vol. xxxvi., at page 142, commissioned him in December 1689, aLieutenant in Jan Hanse's company of New Utrecht militia, of which Joost Van Brunt was Ensign of Foot. In 1700, he was commissioned Captain by Richard (Coote) Earl of Bellomont. In September, 1726, he sold for £1676 to his son-in-law, Capt. Rutgent Van Brunt, who had married his daughter Jannetji, his homestead in New Utrecht with sixty acres of land and also a large tract of land at Canarsie, N. Y.6

     Captain Jan Janse Van Dyke, uncle, witnessed the baptism of Agneta Van Dyke on 25 July 1680 at Flatbush, New York.7,8

     Jan At seventy-four, thinking his days of work were over, Jan sold his farm to his son-in-law, Captian Rutgers Van Brunt, for £1676, about circa 1724.9

     Captain Jan Janse Van Dyke left a Will on 16 May 1735. The Will, which was admitted to probate in New York County, November 9, 1736, and is recorded in the Surrogate's office in Liber 13 of Wills, page 35. The witnesses to the will were Cornelius Van Brunt, Joost Van Brunt, Theodore Ellsworth, and Christopher Codwise. The preamble to the Will is as follows:

I, John Van Dyck of New Utrecht, in Kings County, on the Island Nassau, in ye Province of New York, Yeoman, being of perfect health, both in body and mind, and knowing the certainty of death and uncertainty of the time of its approach, Do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following First I bequeath my soul to God who gave it, my body to the earth from whence it came to be decently interred at the discretion of my executors hereafter named, in certain hopes of Resurrection and the Union of my body and soul at the last day and of Eternal Life through the sole merits of my blessed Savior Jesus Christ and as to what worldly estate God hath pleased to Bestow upon me and that shall belong to me at the time of my Dec'se after my just debts and funeral expenses are paid and satisfied, I give, devise and bequeath of the same in manner and form following ...
By his will he gave to his children "John Van Dyck, Mattys Van Dyck, Catherine, widow of Daniel Hendrickson, Jannetji, wife to Capt. Rutgers Van Brunt, Angennetj, wife to Simon De Hart" all his personal estate after paying legacies; to his grandson John Stephens, five shillings; to his granddaughter, Teuntji, widow of John Sleigh, £25; to his grandchildren Ii the children of my daughter Catleyntje deceased which was the wife of Garret Kette1tas in number 3 sons and 3 daughters each 5 shillings"; to his "great grandson John Van Buren, son of my granddaughter Teuntji Richon deceased which was wife of Dr. John Van Buren, Jr., £25. to be paid when he comes of age." He appointed as executors his "sons John Van Dyke. Mattys Van Dyke, Rutgers Van Brunt, and Simon De Hart."10,4

     Femmetje, at age 19, married Bernardus Jacobussen Ryder at age 27, son of Jacobus Bernardus Ryder and Jannetje Laurens, on 21 August 1771.4
