Obituary

1 April 2018
On March 30, 2018 Ruby Bostrom met her Savior, Jesus Christ. Ruby was the second daughter of Ted and Marie Luco, born on New Year's Day in 1921. They raised four daughters and a son on a cotton farm in Texas. Ruby, along with her siblings, helped with the arduous task of picking the cotton. After chores and homework, they played dominoes. Even at age 97, Ruby proved unbeatable. She graduated from North Texas State Teachers' College in Denton and relished the four years teaching American and Texan history. In the summer of 1947 Ruby traveled to Greeley, Colorado for graduate school. There she met Warren-recently returned from the war to finish his education. After a whirlwind courtship, the cotton farmer's daughter and wheat farmer's son married in September. Thus began 65 years of marriage. Warren and Ruby put down roots in Colorado Springs at the foot of Pikes Peak. Ruby excelled as a mother and nurtured her four children with faith, hope, and love. Ruby taught 30 to 40 preschoolers in Sunday school. One year she lacked a piano player. So, at age 70, she took piano lessons and played for the youngsters another 10 years. Warren and Ruby distributed Bibles with the Gideons International for 30 years. She also served the Colorado Springs Pregnancy Center as prayer coordinator for over 20 years. Three words describe Ruby: Grit. Gumption. Gladness. She leaves a legacy of prayer. ""Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies."" Proverbs 31:10 KJV Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Esther McNeill and Dorothy Crosswhite as well as brother J.T. Luco along with husband Warren, son Gary and great-granddaughter Hadassah. She is survived by sister Helen Woolley, her children Judith (Sam) Palpant, Stephen (Via) Bostrom, Sandra (Paul) Moede, and Gary's wife, Sara Bostrom; as well as 33 grandchildren (spouses included) and 29 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Colorado Springs Pregnancy Center or the Gideons International. The service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 7th, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2511 N. Logan Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO. Published in The Gazette on Apr. 1, 2018 30 E.
