     Helen Florence Brown was born on 21 February 1875 at Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine.1,2

     Helen, at age 22, married Adelbert M. Pratt at age 23, son of Leonard W. Pratt and Sarah Elizabeth Lyford, on 25 December 1897 at Dover, Piscataquis, Maine.1

     Helen died at age 91, on 12 March 1966,2,3 and was buried at Dover Cemetery, Dover Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine.2

     Helen and Adelbert appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Dover, Piscataquis, Maine, at Bean Hill Road, enumerated 28 April 1910. Adelbert was a farmer at his farm. Their children, Merton, Elizabeth, Guy, Winifield and Walter were listed as living with them..5

     Helen and Adelbert appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Dover, Piscataquis, Maine, at Main Street, enumerated 7 January 1920. He was a laborer at a saw mill.. Their children, Merton, Elizabeth, Guy, Winifield, Walter and Lloyd were listed as living with them.6

     Helen and Adelbert appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Dover Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine, at East Dover Road, enumerated 28 April 1930. He was a farmer. Their children, Walter and Lloyd were listed as living with them.7

     Helen and Adelbert appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Dover Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine, at Atkinson Road, enumerated 26 April 1940. He was a farm operator on his farm Their son, Lloyd, and his wife, Fern were listed as living with them. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $16.26 in the year 2012. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2012 would have cost $.21 cents in 1940.8

- DOVER-FOXCROFT — Mrs. Helen F. Pratt, 91, widow of Adelbert Pratt, died Saturday at a local nursing home following a long period of failing health. She was born here Feb. 21, 1875, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darling Brown. She was former member East Dover Grange. Surviving are four sons, Merton W., of here, Winfield L. of Auburn, Mass., Walter B. of here, Lloyd W. of East Millinocket, 21 grandchildren, several great granchildren ,nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 P-m Monday at Lary Funeral Home, the Rev. John W. Meisner officiating. Burial will be in the Dover Cemetery.3

St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brewer was the scene of a charming wedding Saturday at 9 a.m. when Miss Linda Catherine Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Brown, Penobscot Terrace, Brewer, became the bride of Robert Edward Kiah Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Kiah, 320 North Main Street, Brewer. Bouquets of pink and white gladioli decorated the altar for the double-ring ceremony. The Rev. Richard P. Rice officiated. Wedding music Including the traditional marches was played by Mrs. James Osgood, organist, who also accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Joseph Murphy, as she sang "On This Day O Beautiful Mother", "Ave Verum", "Ave Maria", and "Panis Angelicus". The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attractive in a chapel length gown of taffeta with a tulip train, fashioned with a basque bodice, a high scoop neckline, and long pointed sleeves. Re-embroidered alen-eon lace trimmed the bodice and front of the skirt. Her elbow-length veil of sflk illusion was attached to a lace cap with pearls and sequins. She wore a pearl necklace, the gift of the bridegroom and carried a prayer book with a white orchid and satin streamers. The maid of honor, Miss Linda Grover of Brewer, was attired in a street-length gown of pale pink satin brocade with matching headpiece and veil. The bridesmaids, Miss Pat Roy and Miss Beverly Brown of Portland, wore street-length gowns of pale blue satin brocade with matching headpieces and veils. The attendants carried colonial bouquets of pink and white carnations and babys breath. The best man was Dennis, Kiah, brother of the bridegroom. The ushers were John Flynn Jr., of Brewer, Charles Taylor of Bridgton, Lt Paul Kiah of Fort Bragg, N. C., and James DeVere III, of Coaldwick, N. J. A reception followed at the Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono. Baskets of white carnations and blue Shasta daisies were used in decorating. The guest book was clrculated by Mrs. Thomas Largay, sister of the bridegroom. Assisting in serving were Miss Kathy Hamm of Brewer and Mrs. George Brennan of Dover, N.H. Mr. and Mrs. Kiah left by motor on a trip to the White Mountains and Lake Champlain. The bride was attired in a white linen suit with navy and red accessories, complemented with a white orchid corsage. The bride was graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1962, and attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Portland. She is a member of the Brewer Sub-Deb Club. The bridegroom, a graduate of Brewer High School in I960, and the University of Maine, 1964, is affiliated with the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He is employed by Bancroft and Martin in Brewer. Mr. and 'Mrs. Kiah will reside at 320 North Main Street, Brewer.1,2
