     Azel Edward Gurney, son of Zachariah Gurney Jr. and Matilda Packard, was born on 30 April 1785 at Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts.1,3

     Azel, son of Zachariah Gurney Jr. and Matilda Packard, married Mary 'Polly' Knapp, daughter of Abijah Knapp, in 1815.4

     Azel Edward Gurney died on 29 January 1859 at age 73.5 and was buried at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton, Plymouth, Maine.5
