Mary E. Maddocks, wife of Ernest W. Burrill
     Mary E. Maddocks, daughter of Ezakiel W. Maddocks and Elizabeth Saunders, was born in 1864 at Bucksport, Hancock, Maine.2

     Mary and Ernest Washington Burrill filed a marriage intention on 26 January 1892 at Dedham, Hancock, Maine.3

     Mary, daughter of Ezakiel W. Maddocks and Elizabeth Saunders, married Ernest Washington Burrill at age 25, son of Asa Coombs Burrill and Nancy Emily Blaisdell, on 30 January 1892, at Dedham, Hancock, Maine, By the Rev. George F Bradford, Minister of the Gospel, Dedham, Maine. Ernest was working as a resturant keeper and Mary a school teacher.4,5,1,6,7

     DATELINE 3 December 1926: Mary and Ernest were in a very bad accident. They were driving to Dedham village with a horse and top buggy, and when at a short distance from the town hall, the harness broke, frightening the horse which ran, and Mr. Burrill finding he could not stop him, succeeded in reining him in at the yard of the Grange stable, overturning the carriage and throwing them out. Mr. Burrill sustained a severe scalp wound. Mrs. Burrill suffered a bad shaking up and shock, while Mrs. Black, who was the most severely injured, had her nose broken and her face cut. Fortunately they were near the George Hopkins place where they were cared for until a physician, Dr. L. H. Ford, of Bangor, could reach them, who gave first aid, after which they were carried to E. M. G. hospital, where their injuries were attended to and the report, Saturday morning was that they were as comfortable as could be expected at Dedham, Hancock, Maine.8

     Mary died in 1950, at Dedham, Hancock, Maine,9 and was buried at Union Cemetery, Dedham, Hancock, Maine.10

     Mary E. Maddocks appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Bucksport, Hancock, Maine in the household of her parents, Ezakiel and Elizabeth.11

     Mary and Ernest appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Dedham, Hancock, Maine, enumerated 4 June 1900. He listed his occupation as a farmer. Mary E.'s, mother, Nancy Emily was listed as living with them.12

     Mary and Ernest appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Dedham, Hancock, Maine, enumerated 31 January 1920. Ernest was working as a farmer, on his farm that was free of mortgage.13

     Mary appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Bucksport, Hancock, Maine, enumerated April 1930. She was listed as a widow, owning her home, valued at $5000.00. She also had a radio set at the time.14

     Louisa M. Maker, daughter of William A. Maker and Nellie M. Smith, was born on 14 September 1919 at Plantation # 14, Washington, Maine.2

     Louisa, at age 18, daughter of William A. Maker and Nellie M. Smith, married Clyde Neal Antone at age 24, son of Sargent Lewis Antone and Ruby May Fenderson, on 18 September 1937 at Maine.1

     Louisa died at age 48, on 15 April 1968,2 and was buried at Jacksonville Cemetery, East Machias, Washington, Maine.3

     Louisa and Clyde appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Plantation # 14, Washington, Maine, enumerated 27 June 1940. Clyde was a laborer in the lumbering field. They had two boarders, Ottin and Elderas Maker. Their son, Clyde M. was listed as living with them. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $16.26 in the year 2012. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2012 would have cost $.21 cents in 1940.4

LOUISA M ANTONE

PLANTATION 14 — Mrs. Louisa M. Antone, 48, died Monday afternoon at her home here following a long illness. She was born at Plantation 14, Sept. 14, 1919, the daughter of William A. and Nellie (Smith) Maker. She had been a lifeling resident of this area and was employed for many years at Guilford Mills in Eastport. Surviving are her mother of plantation 14; one son Clyde Antone of Lincoln; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Leighton of Dennysville, Mrs. Jean Pennell and Miss Karen Antone both of Plantation 14; three brothers, Albert and Robert Maker both of Plantation 14, and Daniel Maker; two sisters, Mrs. Velma Scott of Jacksonville and Miss Anna Maker of Plantation 14; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 pm at the Gardner Funeral Chapel in Machias with the Rev. Charles Dorchester officiating. Burial will he in the Jacksonville Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel any time.2
