Louisa Maker, wife of Clyde N. Antone
     Louisa M. Maker, daughter of William A. Maker and Nellie M. Smith, was born on 14 September 1919 at Plantation # 14, Washington, Maine.2

     Louisa, at age 18, daughter of William A. Maker and Nellie M. Smith, married Clyde Neal Antone at age 24, son of Sargent Lewis Antone and Ruby May Fenderson, on 18 September 1937 at Maine.1

     Louisa died at age 48, on 15 April 1968,2 and was buried at Jacksonville Cemetery, East Machias, Washington, Maine.3

Census

     Louisa and Clyde appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Plantation # 14, Washington, Maine, enumerated 27 June 1940. Clyde was a laborer in the lumbering field. They had two boarders, Ottin and Elderas Maker. Their son, Clyde M. was listed as living with them. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $16.26 in the year 2012. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2012 would have cost $.21 cents in 1940.4

LOUISA M ANTONE

PLANTATION 14 — Mrs. Louisa M. Antone, 48, died Monday afternoon at her home here following a long illness. She was born at Plantation 14, Sept. 14, 1919, the daughter of William A. and Nellie (Smith) Maker. She had been a lifeling resident of this area and was employed for many years at Guilford Mills in Eastport. Surviving are her mother of plantation 14; one son Clyde Antone of Lincoln; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Leighton of Dennysville, Mrs. Jean Pennell and Miss Karen Antone both of Plantation 14; three brothers, Albert and Robert Maker both of Plantation 14, and Daniel Maker; two sisters, Mrs. Velma Scott of Jacksonville and Miss Anna Maker of Plantation 14; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 pm at the Gardner Funeral Chapel in Machias with the Rev. Charles Dorchester officiating. Burial will he in the Jacksonville Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel any time.2
