     Ella and James appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Greenup, Cumberland, Illinois, enumerated 1940. James was working as a laborer for a private home. Their children, Betty Louise, Wanda Jean, Dorothy Mae and Rosemary were listed as living with them. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $21.35 in the year 2022. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2022 would have cost $.17 cents in 1940.5
