     Benjamin Clayton Lancaster was born on 9 February 1846 at Murfreesboro, Rutherford, Tennessee.2,1

     Benjamin, at age 24, married Mozanne Erixana “Anna” McFarlin at age 19 on 12 March 1870, at Ellis, Texas.3,4

     Benjamin died on 19 September 1940, at Waxahachie, Ellis, Texas. At age 94,2 and was buried at Waxahachie City Cemetery, Waxahachie, Ellis, Texas.2

B. C. Lancaster Dies At Home Here Thursday
WELL-KNOWN WAXAHACIAN IS TAKEN BY DEATH AT 2:20 P. M.

B. C. (Uncle Ben) Lancaster, 94, probably the oldest Civil War veteran in Ellis County and one of the county’s best-known citizens, died at his home, 4 32 Grand Aenue, at 2:20 p. M. Thursday after having been seriously ill since Sunday. Funeral arrangements had not been completed at the press hour. Mr. Lancaster pioneered in Ellis County in ciic, religious and educational affairs. He was one of tlie oldest elders in the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. and was one of the leaders in the successful move to have Trinity Unlversity located in Waxahachie In 1902. He was born In Tennessee in 1846 and came to Texas with his parents in 1854. At that time, Dallas was sucit a small trading station that the group with which the Lancasters were traveling crossed the Trinity River east of the present metropolis as they did not deem it worthy of a visit. They came on to Ellis County and proceeded to become among its leading citizens. Ho served in the Civil War with the Confederate forces. After the war, Mr. Lancaster purchased a farm and for many years actively engaged in agriculture. Later he served as an Ellis County commissioner. Mr. Lancaster has five daughters, Mrs. O. H, Chapman, Mrs. W ('. Rockett, Miss Kate Lancaster and Mrs. J. S. Clark, all of Waxahachie; and Mrs. .Myrtle McCartney, Dallas. Mr. Lancaster was widely known as a lover 0f flowers and hi.s flower garden has always been one of the beauty spots of Waxahachie. Among relatives here from a distance, with him when the end came, was Mrs. Lester Jordan, a granddaughter, who resides in Dallas.5
