     John married Virginia Anne Hunter, daughter of Henry Lewis Hunter and Millicent Magill Ryder, on 28 August 1948, at Saint Louis, Missouri.1,3

     John died on 7 June 2009, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Sebastian, Florida, at age 82,1 and was buried at Saint Patricks Cemetery, Southold, Suffolk, New York.1

Obituary

John R. Norklun

Former Southold resident John R. Norklun of Sebastian, Fla., died June 7 at Sebastian River Medical Center. He was 82.
He was born in Southold Jan. 4, 1927, to John and Mary (Dapsis) Norklun. He graduated from Southold High School in 1944 and from Brayton Aeronautical School in 1948.
On Aug. 28, 1948, he married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Hunter, in Madison, Wis. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for one year, achieving the rank of corporal. He then worked in aviation for 44 years, serving as director of aircraft maintenance for CBS Inc. at LaGuardia Airport for over 30 years. According to his family, Mr. Norklun was an avid golfer who took his clubs on all his business trips and once hit a hole-in-one on a course in Massachusetts.
Predeceased by his wife in 1996 and his brother, Richard, he is survived by his children, Kathi, of Stone Ridge, N.Y., Michael, of Cranston, R.I., Matthew, of Wainscott, JoAnn, of Sebastian, Fla., and Mark, of Goffstown, N.H; his sisters, Margaret Sharadin of Cutchogue and Rose Hawkes of Hobe Sound, Fla; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, at St. Patrick R.C. Cemetery in Southold. A reception will follow. Arrangements were handled by Strunk Funeral Home in Sebastian, Fla.4
