Fannie M. Van Deusen1

Fannie M. Van Deusen, wife of William N. Smith
     Fannie M. Van Deusen was born on 25 July 1874 at Canajoharie, New York.1

     As of 17 April 1929,her married name was Smith.1

     Fannie, at age 54, married William N. Smith at age 75, son of Benjamin Smith and Emeline Scholl, on 17 April 1929, at Montgomery, New York. This was a second marriage for both.1

     Fannie died on 12 May 1951, at Canajoharie, New York, at age 76,2 and was buried at Fort Plain Cemetery, Fort Plain, Montgomery, New York.2

Mrs. Fannie Mulford Van Dusen Smith died Saturday afternoon at her home on Barclay Street, Canajoharie, after suffering a heart attack the previous afternoon. Mrs. Smith was born in Van Dusenville, July 25, 1874, the daughter of Charles Carlin and Gertrude Hammond Van Dusen. After the early death of her parents in 1893 she made her home with her uncle, Edward S. Van Dusen, in Fort Plain where she attended Clinton Liberal institute. Upon graduation she went to New York City where she attended art school and was married to a promising young artist, Allen Van Dusen. She was left a widow after about a year and thereafter made her home in New York City, Fort Plain and Gowanda until she came to Canajoharie in 1925 to care for her aunt, Mrs. Joel Loucks. In 1929, she was married to William N. Smith, who died in 1937. She was an active member of the Canajoharie Reformed Church. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Loraine Bills, Herkimer; a niece, Mrs. Lona Bills Rutherford, Baltimore, Md; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Marian Smith Putman, Schenectady, and one step-son, Roger Peck Smith, Canajoharie. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 P. M. at the Lenz funeral home, Otsego Street, Canajoharie, with the Rev. Herbert F. Guth, former pastor of the Canajoharie Reformed Church, officiating.      Engeltie Van Doom was born in 1697.1

     Engeltie married Roelof Schenck, son of Garret R. Schenck and Neeltje Coerte Van Voorhees, in 1718.1

     Her married name was Schenck1 and was buried at Schenck-Couwenhoven Cemetery, Holmdel, Monmouth, New Jersey.2

     Engeltie died.2
