Obituary

EAST SANGERVILLE

This community was greatly saddened and shocked Tuesday morning when it learned that Mrs. Mary E. Knowlton, widow of the late Kendall Knowlton, had passed away after only two days illness with pneumonia. Mrs. Knowlton had lived here about sixty years and only left her home here one week before, to live with her brother, Dexter Blethen in Dover. Mrs. Knowlton was a very capable and hard working woman, one who was always ready to assist in sickness and sorrow, and many are the friends she has cheered in time of death with her comforting words of sympathy. Her husband died Aug. 1, and she died on the same day of the week as he did and her funeral services were held on the same day of the week. Mrs. Knowlton will be greatly missed here as she was a friend whom everyone could look up to, one ever ready to help, and it can truly be said of her that she was a true Christian woman. She was a charter member of East Sangerville Grange and one who always had an interest in it anf was a loved and valued member. She leaves to mourn her loss a brother and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the home of Dexter Blethen in Dover. The floral offerings were many and beautiful and bore silent testimony of the esteem in which she was held. The bearers were C. H. Oakes, H. A. Millett, L. D. Howard and C. R. Waugh. Interment was at East Sn-gerville cemetery.8
